Özet
Bu çalışma modern Irak'ın bir devlet olarak kurulma sürecine odaklanmıştır. Modernlik Batı'da ortaya çıkan bir toplumsal evre olarak kabul edilmesine rağmen, tüm dünyada etkili olan bir toplumsal deneyim ve süreç olarak kabul edilmektedir. Batı-dışı toplumların modernleşme süreçleri ve deneyimleri günümüzde hala tartışılan sorunlardan birisidir. Modernleşmenin izlediği güzergah ve yarattığı toplumsal sorunlar, farklı disiplinlerde olduğu kadar Sosyolojide de karşılığını bulmaktadır. İşte bu çalışmada Batı-dışı modernleşme deneyimlerinden birisi olan Irak'ın modern bir devlet olarak ortaya çıkış süreci, sömürgecilik ve sonrasındaki toplumlararası ilişkiler bağlamında açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda Irak'ın modern bir ulus devlet olma süreci, II. Dünya Savaşı sonrası dünyada Batı'nın kendi iç rekabeti ve Ortadoğu bölgesinin paylaşılması ekseninde açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Modern Irak'ın kuruluşunda etkili olan süreçlerin başında bölgenin zengin enerji kaynaklarına sahip olması gelmektedir. Bu bölgede bir ulus-devletin kurulması içinde dayanılan temel ideoloji ise milliyetçilik olmuştur. Ancak tüm bunlara rağmen modernleşme deneyimi kurulan bu ülkede istenilen sonuca ulaşamamış ve tüm modern Irak tarihi siyasi kriz ve yıkım süreci olarak biçimlenmiştir. Günümüzde de Batı'nın çıkarları doğrultusunda istikrarsız bir bölge olmaya devam etmektedir.

This study focuses on the establishment of modern Iraq as a state. Although modernity is accepted as a social stage that emerged in the West, it is accepted as a social experience and process that is effective all over the world. The modernization processes and experiences of non-Western societies are still one of the issues discussed today. The route followed by modernization and the social problems that created by it, finds its counterpart in Sociology as well as in different disciplines.In this study, the emergence of Iraq as a modern state, which is one of the non-Western modernization experiences, has been tried to be explained in the context of colonialism and inter-communal relations. In this context, the process of Iraq's becoming a modern national state has been tried to be explained in the axis of the West's own internal competition and the sharing of the Middle East region in the post-World War II. One of the most influential processes in the establishment of modern Iraq is the region's rich energy resources. The main ideology based on the establishment of a nation-state in this region was nationalism.However, despite all this, the modernization experience could not reach the desired result in this country. The entire history of modern Iraq was shaped as a process of political crisis and destruction. Today, it continues to be an unstable region in line with the interests of the West.
