Özet
Bu çalışmada Giresun il merkezi ve bünyesine bağlı ilçeleri incelenerek toplam 51 adet kilise ve şapel yapısına ulaşılmıştır. Bu kilise ve şapeller dönem bakımından aynı olup Geç Osmanlı dediğimiz döneme rast gelmektedir. Kiliselerden bazılarının cami amaçlı kullanımı söz konusu olduğu gibi müze, kütüphane, ahır ve depo amaçlı kullanımlar da mevcuttur. Geriye kalan yapılar ise terkedilerek atıl bir vaziyette bırakılmış olup, içlerinde sağlam örnekler olduğu gibi temel seviyesine kadar veyahut tamamen yıkılanları da vardır. Çalışma kapsamında bazilikal, tek nefli, serbest haç, kapalı yunan haçı ve kiborium planlı kilise ve şapeller tespit edilmiştir. Bu yapıların mimari plastik ve duvar resimlerinde birtakım süsleme kompozisyonları görülmekte olup kendi içlerinde ortak ve farklı özellikler barındırmaktadır. Giresun ili ve ilçelerindeki bu dini yapıların mimari, süsleme, malzeme ve teknik açısından ve de bölgenin Geç Osmanlı Dönemi azınlık yapıları olması bakımından önemli bir yere sahip olduğunu göstermektedir.

In this research located in the centre of Giresun and its districts, 51 churches and chapels have been reached. These churches and chapels belong to the same period called the Late Ottoman. Some of these churches were used as mosque, museum, library, barn and storage. The remaining structures were abandoned and left idle. There are some solid examples as well as those that have been completely collapsed or remained as foundation level. Within the scope of the study, churches and chapels with basilical, one nave, free cross, closed greek cross and ciborium have been determined. Several decorative compositions can be seen in the archıtectural plastic and wall paintings of these structures and they have some common and different characteristics. It shows that these religious buildings in the province of Giresun and its districts have an important place in terms of architecture, decoration, material and technique and in terms of being minority structures of the Late Ottoman Period in the region.
