Özet
Bu çalışmada Geç Osmanlı Dönemi'nde İstanbul kent mekanında, modernitenin mekana etkisi sanat-spor mekanlarının mimari ve kentsel olarak geçirdiği değişim üzerinden irdelenmiştir. Modernleşme süreci ile birlikte, 19. yüzyılda, Osmanlı'da meyhane, kahvehane gibi geleneksel seyir mekanlarına tiyatro, gazino, kulüp gibi batılı tarzda mekanlar; sporcu tekkeleri, açık alanlar v.b geleneksel spor mekanlarına ise jimnastikhaneler, spor kulüpleri eklenmiştir. Öte yandan, seyir mekanlarının İstanbul kent dokusu içinde, sunuldukları seyir türüne bağlı olarak çeşitli bölgeler oluşturduğu bir olgudur. Toplumun farklı ölçeklerde deneyimlediği bu mekansal oluşumların, Osmanlı'nın gelenekselden moderne geçişine paralel bir süreç olduğu gözlemlenebilmektedir. Seyirlerin, modernleşmenin mekana yansımasını görülür kılan bir yaşam pratiği olması ve Osmanlı başkenti İstanbul'un modernleşmenin odağında bulunması tez çalışmasının kapsamını belirlemiştir. Yöntem olarak literatür ve arşiv bilgileri kullanılmıştır. Tezin giriş bölümünde Osmanlı'da sanat-spor mekanlarının seçilme amacı aktarılmıştır. İkinci ve üçüncü bölümlerde Geç Osmanlı Dönemi'ndeki mevcut sanat-spor seyirlerinden bahsedilmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde seyirlerin modernite ile ilişkisi aktif ve pasif aktörler üzerinden tartışılmıştır. Beşinci bölümde sanat-spor seyir mekanları kentsel ölçekte incelenmiştir. Altıncı bölümde genel bir değerlendirme yapılmış ve çeşitli çıkarımlarda bulunulmuştur.

The aim of the study is to examine the spatial impact of modernity on the urban space in the late period through the architectural and urban changes of art-sports centers. Along with the modernization period in the 19th century, western-style places such as theatre, casino, clubs such as taverns, coffeehouses; gyms and sports clubs were also included to traditional sports centers such as sportsman lodges, clearing. On the other hand, various regions related to the type of spectacle are formed within the city of İstanbul. It has been observed that the spatial formations experienced by the society at different scales is a parallel process to the transition from the traditional to the modern in the Ottoman period. The fact that the spectacles being a living practice making the spatial reflection of modernization visible and the fact that Istanbul being the focal point of modernization have determined the scope of the study. The literature and archive information were used as the method in the study. The objective of selecting art-sports centers in the Empire was explained in the introduction section. The art-sports activities in the late period were addressed in the second and third section. The relationship with modernity of spectacles through active and passive actors were discussed in the fourth section. The arts-sports centers were examined at an urban scale in the fifth section. A general evaluation and various implications were stated in the sixth section of the study.
