Özet

Bu araştırma, örnek olay ve oyunla öğretimin Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde öğrenme düzeyine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla geleneksel öğretim, örnek olay yoluyla öğretim ve oyun yoluyla öğretimin yapıldığı üç grup üzerinde çalışılmıştır. Araştırmanın denekleri Ankara'nın Gazi Mahallesi' nde bulunan Gazi İlkokulu'nda 1996-1997 Bahar döneminde 4. sınıfa devam eden öğrenciler arasından seçilmiştir. Deney gruplarının birinde insan haklan ile ilgili 32,“Vatan ve Millet”konusu ile ilgili 21 ilke için yazılmış örnek olaylar kullanılmıştır. Diğer deney grubunda ise aynı konular kart oyunları, drama ve rol yapma ile oyunlaştırılarak işlenmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre toplam erişi, bilgi düzeyi erişisi ve kavrama düzeyi erişisinde geleneksel yöntem ile örnek olay arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Oyun grubu ile geleneksel öğretimin yapıldığı grup arasında ve oyun ile örnek olayın kullanıldığı grup arasında oyun lehine anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Bu araştırmanın sonuçlan oyunun geleneksel öğretim ile örnek olay yoluyla öğretimden daha etkili olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bu nedenle özellikle de kavramların öğretimi ile ilkelerin öğretiminde oyun yoluyla öğretimden yararlanılmalıdır.

The research has been carried out with the purpose of determining the effect on the learning level of teaching Social Science using case-studies and drama. The experiment is done on three groups of students. The students in the first group were taught in the traditional way while case-studies were used in the second group and drama was the center of activities in the third group. The students were chosen from among the fourth grade students, attending Gazi Primary School, which is located in Gazi district of Ankara, during the spring term of 1996-97 academic year. In one on the experimental groups 32 principles related to“Human Rights”and 21 principles related to on“Homeland and Nation”were used as case studies. In the other experimental group the same principles were taught role-playing, drama and card games. According to the findings of the research, there is no statistically meaningful difference between teaching with traditional approach and using case studies in teaching when the total achievement, level of knowledge and comprehension achievement are taken into consideration. When comparison was made between the drama group and the group were traditional approaches were used in teaching and between the dramatization group and the group where case studies were used, there appeared a difference which was meaningful and proving drama more effective in teaching. The findings of the research suggest that using drama in teaching is more effective than using case-studies and teaching with traditional methods. Therefore, we can conclude that in teaching, especially in teaching concepts and principles, drama should be made good use of.
