Özet
ÖZET Bu çalışmada, çevirinin dil öğretimine önemli katkıları olabileceği varsayımından hareketle Turkiyedeki Eğitim Fakültelerinin İngilizce Bölümlerinde çeviri öğretimine ilişkin yaklaşımlar, bu bölümlerin çevirinin önemini benimseyip benimsemediklerini görmek için sözcükbilimsel. anlambilimseL sözdizimsel. biçembilimsel ve kültürel yönlerden incelenmiştir. Birinci bölümde varsayım ve araştırma yöntemi ortaya konduktan sonra, ikinci bölümde, çevirinin hem sözlüklerde yer alan hem de dilbilimciler tarafından yapılan çeşitli tanımlarına yer verilmiş ve de çevirinin dil Öğretimiyle olan sözcükbilimsel. anlambilimsel, sözdizimsel, biçembilimsel ve kültürel ilişkileri ele alınmıştır. Yine aynı bölümde, çeviride üzerinde durulması gereken noktalar, metin türleri, çeviri yöntemleri. İngilizce-Türkçe ve Türkçe-İngilizce çeviri, çeviri derslerine ne zaman başlamak gerektiği, sözlü çeviri, çeviri-anadil ilişkileri, çevirinin müfredattaki yeri ve çeviri değerlendirmesi gibi konular ele alınmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde, Turkiyedeki 9 üniversitenin İngilizce Öğretmenliği bölümlerinde çeviri öğreten 17 ders sorumlusuyla yapılan anket ışığında çeviri derslerine giren öğretim elemanlarının görüş ve uygulamaları, dördüncü bölümde de yine aynı üniversitelerde 533 öğrenciyle yapılan anket ışığında öğrencilerin görüş ve beklentileri değerlendirilmiştir. Son bölümde ise sonuç ve öneriler yer almaktadır.

ABSTRACT In this work, depending on the hypothesis that translation makes important contributions to language teaching, approaches to the teaching of translation at the departments of English Language Teaching of the Faculties of Education in Turkey were studied in lexical, semantic, syntactic, stylistic and cultural aspects to see whether or not the importance of translation is accepted in the connection of language teaching. In the first chapter, appeared the hypothesis and the research method, after which, in the second chapter, various definitions of translation defined both in dictionaries and by linguists, and as well as the studies on the relationships between translation and language teaching in lexical, semantic, syntactic, stylistic and cultural aspects. Again, in the same chapter, such matters as the points to be concentrated on. text types, translation methods, English-Turkish and Turkish-English translation, when to start the transaction courses, interpretation, contributions of translation to mother tongue, the credit-hour of translation courses and the evaluation there of were considered. In the third chapter, the views and applications of translation teachers were assessed in the light of the questionnaires distributed to the 17 translation teachers at the ELT departments at universities in Turkey. Then the views and expectations of students were evaluated in the light of the questionnaires distributed to the 533 students at the same universities in the fourth chapter. At last, in the final chapter, the results obtained and my specific proposals were included as conclusion.
