S U M M A R Y Insurance is the act, system, or business of insuring: property, life, or person against loss or harm arising in spe cified contingencies, as fire, accident, death, etc., in con sideration of a payment proportionate to the risfc involved; the contract thus made, set forth in a written Or printed ag reement or policy; the sum paid for insuring anything. Insurances may be classified, according to their sub ject- matter, into insurances of property, insurances of lia- | bilities, insurances of the person and insurances of interests or rights. Property insurances include, for example, most tayp.es. of marine insurances, whether in respect of ship or cargo, fire insurance on buildings or goods, and insurances on aircraft or engineering plant. liabilities that may be insured include those of the motorist to other road- users for accidental bodily injury or damage to property; of the employer for liability, to his work men for injuries at work; and of any trader or private person for his liability to members ofthe public who may sustain in jury or damage by accidental means» Insurances of the person include all types of life assurance as well as insurances gsran* ting benefits for accidental death or for periods of disable^ ment that result from sickness or accident.
