Özet
Bu tezin amacı; sosyal bilgiler dersi gören ortaokul öğrencilerinin ve sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin sosyal bilgiler dersi öğretim programına yönelik beklentilerini belirlemek, bu beklentilerin nasıl ve neden ortaya çıktığını saptamaktır. Nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışmasına göre kurgulanan bu çalışmada katılımcılar, seçkisiz olmayan örnekleme yöntemlerinden amaçsal örnekleme yaklaşımının alt dalı olan kolay ulaşılabilir durum örneklemesi ile seçilmiştir. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Özellikle bulgular bölümünde sunulan bireylerin görüşlerini çarpıcı bir şekilde yansıtmak ve fenomeni göz önüne sererek okuyucuda durumu betimlemek amacıyla sık sık doğrudan alıntılar kullanılarak betimsel analiz yapılmıştır. Çalışmada içerik analizi sürecinde elde edilen bulgular „Öğrenci Görüşlerine İlişkin Bulgular ve Yorum‟, „Öğretmen Görüşlerine İlişkin Bulgular ve Yorum‟ olmak üzere iki kategoride ele alınmıştır. Bu çalışma sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri ve ortaokul öğrencilerinin sosyal bilgiler dersi öğretim programına yönelik çok farklı beklentiler içinde olduklarını ortaya koymuştur. Bu sonuçlara göre ilgili alan yazın taranmış sosyal bilgiler öğretim programına yönelik öğretmen ve öğrenci beklentilerinin belirlenmesi ile ilgili bir çalışma yapılmadığı görülmüştür. Bu araştırma alan yazında yer alan bu boşluğu doldurmak amacıyla yapılmıştır.

The aim of this thesis is; To determine the expectations of middle school students and social studies teachers who attend social studies course towards the social studies course curriculum and to determine how and why these expectations emerge. In this study, which was designed according to the case study, one of the qualitative research designs, the participants were selected with easily accessible case sampling, which is a subbranch of purposeful sampling approach, among non-random sampling methods. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview form. In particular, descriptive analysis was conducted using direct quotations, in order to reflect the views of the individuals presented in the findings section in a striking way and to describe the situation in the reader by revealing the phenomenon. The findings obtained during the content analysis process in the study were discussed in two categories as“Findings and Comments on Student Opinions”,“Findings and Comments on Teacher Opinions”. This study revealed that social studies teachers and secondary school students have very different expectations for the social studies course curriculum. According to these results, it was seen that the related literature was scanned and there was no study on determining teacher and student expectations for social studies curriculum. This research was conducted to fill this gap in the literature.
