225 SUMMARY İn this thesis study, the main problematic is the ideological construction of the privatization policies in the television news.“An Analysis of the Ideological Construction Process: Media and Privatization”study concerns the television news from a critical perspective. From this point of view, news media defined by its ideological function in the capitalist societies. But whether it has ideological function or not revealed only from the political economy paradigm is a matter which is questioned. Television news, is a very important part of this ideological function: Although television news, like any other media texts, may provide a cite for struggle to ideological hegemony, it can reproduce the hegemony of the power blocks. İn this complex process, news media constitues the“common sense”from mediating the primer definers explanations about pirvatization topic. This study concerning the problems about media, television news and ideological reproduction, consists of four main parts: İn the introduction part and second part of the study, why the critical perspective was chosen explained with a comparison between mainstream tradition and critical theory. Than why e textual analyses was chosen also explained with second evaluation about cultural studies and political economy. Third part is a space conceptualizing the ideology, language, meaning and discourse for framing the analysis method so called“discoursive analysis of an ideology”. İn fourth part, the new-right ideology evaluated with its economic bases to show the material reason of privatization policies. Globalization of the capital, nation state and privatization were explained around their impact of the new- right movement. In addition to this, the character of the state in Turkey and begining of the privatization policies that paralles the new- right movement also evaluated. After explanations about news, stressed news as a discourse, and the media enviroment in Turkey, the analyses is realized. In each of the analyses part, it improved that news media has a greater role in the ideological construction of meaning services to the hegemonic block.
