147 SUMMARY Hamdi Yazır of Elmalı (1878-1942) who was educated up in the last period educational institutions of the Ottaman State, is apersonality who distinguished himself easly with his intelligience; superior achievement and extensive learning. As a person who lived in the last period of the Ottamans and initial years of the Republic, he served as abridge between the past and future, expressed opinions on the reasons of the collapse and how will reforms be made, and wrote many articles. As an individual who in this situation knew and was interested very closely with the status of the country inthe period he lived in, and wgo wrote on the events of that period.İt was inevitable that this evaluation, interpretation of the events and perspective on life understanding, would be comprehensive. He served for one period as Deputy of Antalya and one period as the Minister of Estates in Mortmain. No matter which position he assumed, he never was away from the scientific life, and the attributed a great importance to education. He studied law and philosophy and recevied training on colligraphy and music.
