Özet
Gelişme kavramı diğer bir ifadeyle kalkınma, bir ülkede belli bir dönemde hem ekonomik verilerde hem de sosyal göstergelerde meydana gelen değişimdir. Bu kapsamda gelişmenin detaylı bir şekilde açıklanması amacıyla, Birleşmiş Milletler Kalkınma Programı (UNDP) 1990 yılından itibaren her yıl“İnsani Gelişim Endeksini”yayınlamaya başlamıştır. Ayrıca ekonomik veriler kullanılmadan insani gelişimi açıklamaya çalışan sosyal gelişim endeksi, 2014 yılından itibaren Dünya Bankası tarafından yayınlamaya başlamıştır. Bu tezin amacı, ekonomik ve sosyal veriler ışığında, Türkiye'nin gelişim sürecini incelemektir. Bu kapsamda: Arjantin, Brezilya, Çin, Hindistan, Endonezya, Rusya, Güney Afrika ve Türkiye'nin de içinde bulunduğu yükselen ekonomiler incelenmiştir. Ayrıca Avrupa Birliği'ne (AB) üye olan son üç ülke ile AB'ye aday ülkeler: Bulgaristan, Romanya ve Hırvatistan, Kuzey Makedonya, Sırbistan, Karadağ Arnavutluk'a ait ekonomik ve sosyal verilere yer verilmiştir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, ekonomik büyüme ve sosyal gelişme ile ilgili tanımlamalara yer verilmiştir. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde, 1990 – 2018 yılları arasında Türkiye'de gerçekleşen ekonomik büyüme ve sosyal gelişme ile ilgili veriler incelenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde, yükselen ekonomiler ve AB'ye üye olan son üç ülke ile AB'ye aday ülkeler incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın son bölümünde, yarı yapılandırılmış bir mülakat gerçekleştirilerek konunun genel değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır.

The concept of improvement in other words development, is the change in economic data and social indicators in a country in a given period. In order to explain the development in detail, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has started publishing“Human Development Index”annually since 1990. In addition, the Social Development Index, which tries to explain human development without the use of economic data, has been published by the World Bank since 2014. The aim of this thesis is to examine the development process of Turkey in the light of economic and social data. In this context, emerging economies: Argentina, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa and Turkey were examined. In addition, economic and social data of the last three EU member states and candidate countries of the EU: Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro Albania are included. At the first chapter of the study, definitions about economic growth and social development are given. At the second chapter of the study, examined data on economic growth and social development in Turkey between 1990 - 2018. At the third chapter, emerging economies and the last three EU member states and EU candidate countries are examined. At the last chapter of the study, a semi-structured interview was conducted and a general evaluation was made.
