Özet
Bu çalışmaya konu olan Erzurum, Erzincan ve Bayburt illerinden oluşan TRA1 Bölgesi, bölgenin az gelişmişlik farklılıkları temelinde, ülkemizde batı bölgelerinden doğu bölgelerine gidildikçe geri kalmışlığın güçlü bir şekilde yaşandığını göstermektedir. Söz konusu farklılıklar beraberinde birçok ekonomik ve toplumsal sorunların yaşanmasına sebep olmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı TRA1 Bölgesinin sosyo-ekonomik yapısını mevcut veriler ışığında inceleyerek, bölgenin turizm açısından gelişme potansiyelini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla, çalışmada önce bölgesel kalkınma, bölgesel planlama ve bölgesel dengesizlik gibi temel konularda bilgiler verilmiş, TRA1 bölgesinin nüfus, sağlık ve eğitim durumunun Türkiye istatistiki verileri ile karşılaştırmalı analizi yapılmıştır. Ayrıca, TRA1 Bölgesinin turizm potansiyelini belirlemek için istatistiki veriler kullanılmıştır. TRA1 Bölgesinin SWOT analizi yapılarak, bölgenin turizm açısından güçlü ve zayıf yönleri ortaya konulmuştur. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, TRA1 Bölgesinin güçlü bir turizm potansiyeli olmasına rağmen, fırsatlardan yeterince yararlanılamadığı, bölgenin yeterince tanıtılamadığı, bölgenin turizm açısından zayıf yönlerinin ve buna bağlı olarak oluşan tehditlerin giderilebilmesi için gerekli stratejilerin oluşturulmasının gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır.

The TRA1 Region, which consists of the provinces Erzurum, Erzincan and Bayburt, which is the subject of this study, shows that underdevelopment is experienced strongly as we move from the western regions to the eastern regions on the basis of the development differences of the region. These differences cause many economic and social problems. The aim of this study is to examine the socio-economic structure of the TRA1 Region in the light of the available data and to determine the potential development of the region in terms of tourism. For this purpose, firstly the information on key issues such as regional development, regional planning and regional disparities has given, then a comparative analysis of the population, health and educational status of TRA1 has made with Turkey's statistical data. In addition, statistical data were used to determine tourism potential of TRA1 Region. The SWOT analysis of the TRA1 Region reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the region in terms of tourism. According to the results of the analysis, despite the strong tourism potential of TRA1 Region, it is concluded that the opportunities aren't benefited sufficiently, the region isn't promoted sufficiently, and the necessary strategies should be developed in order to eliminate the weaknesses of the region in terms of tourism and the associated threats.
