Özet
Bu tezde, sınır fonksiyonu yaklaşımı altında parametrik olmayan Malmquist toplam faktör verimliliği yöntemi kullanılarak, Türk İmalat Sanayi için verimlilik analizi yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın veri seti, Türk İmalat Sanayinde faaliyet gösteren ve Avrupa topluluğunda ekonomik faaliyetlerin istatistiki sınıflamasına (NACE Rev. 2) göre dört haneli alt sektörlere ait, üretim değeri, çalışan sayısı, toplam mal ve hizmetlerin satın alışları (hammadde ve aramalı girdisi) ve sermaye stokundan oluşmaktadır. İlk üç değişken Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu'nun (TÜİK) yıllık sanayi ve hizmet istatistikleri veri tabanından edinilmiş olup, sermaye stoku yazar tarafından sürekli envanter yöntemi ile hesaplanmıştır. Malmquist endeksleri toplam faktör verimliliğindeki (TFV) değişimleri teknik etkinlikteki değişim ve teknolojideki değişim şeklinde ayrıştırabilmektedir. Bu endeksler, tezin amacına uygun olarak, ele alınan dört haneli sektörlerde performans ölçümüne, TFV'de meydana gelen değişimlerin kaynağının analizine ve TFV değişimlerinin sektör bazında karşılaştırılabilmelerine olanak sağlamaktadır. Çalışmanın bulguları, ilgili dönemde imalat sanayi genelinde TFV'nin azaldığı ve bu azalışın teknolojide meydana gelen gerilemeden kaynaklandığı şeklinde özetlenebilir.

In this thesis, productivity analysis for Turkish Manufacturing Industry was carried out utilizing non-parametric Malmquist total factor productivity method under the frontier approach. The data set of the study consists of the production value, number of employees, total goods and services purchases and capital stock of the four digit sub-sectors operating in Turkish manufacturing industry which are classified according to the statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community (NACE Rev. 2). The first three variables were obtained from Turkish Statistical Institute's annual industry and service statistics database, and the capital stock was calculated by the author using the perpetual inventory method. Malmquist indices can decompose the changes in total factor productivity (TFP) as changes in technical efficiency and changes in technology. In line with the aim of the thesis, these indices allow performance measurement in the mentioned four-digit sectors, help to analyze the source of the changes in TFP and the comparison of TFP changes by sector. The findings of the study can be summarized that TFP decreased throughout the manufacturing industry for the relevant period and this decrease was due to the decline in technology.
