Özet
Osmanlı Devleti I. Dünya Savaşı sonucunda 30 Ekim 1918 tarihinde Mondros Ateşkes Anlaşması'nı imzalayarak savaştan çekilmiştir. Anlaşmanın yedinci (7.) maddesine dayanan İtilaf Devletleri Osmanlı topraklarını işgal etmiştir. Paris Barış Konferansı'nda İtilaf Devletleri grubunda bulunan Yunanistan Doğu Trakya'nın Yunanistan'a ait olduğunu, Rumların nüfusun çoğunluğunu oluşturduğunu, Rumların Türkler tarafından katledildiğini iddia etmiştir. Daha sonra San Remo Konferansı'nda Doğu Trakya Yunanistan'a verilmiştir. Böylece Yunanistan 25 Temmuz 1920 tarihinde Doğu Trakya'nın resmi manada işgalini tamamlamıştır. Ancak Yunanistan Doğu Trakya'ya bu tarihten önce gelmiştir. 9 Ocak 1919 tarihinde Fransızların işletmesini yaptığı Sirkeci-Uzunköprü demiryolunun korunması işi için gelen Yunan taburu, Doğu Trakya'da işgal faaliyetlerine başlamıştır. Bu tarihten itibaren Yunanlılar tarafından Doğu Trakya'da Rum çeteler kurulmuştur. Bununla birlikte Yunanistan'dan Doğu Trakya'ya Rum muhacirler nakledilmiştir. Bölgede Rum çeteler ve Yunan taburu tarafından özellikle Müslümanlara karşı yağma, gasp, hırsızlık, katliam, adam öldürme, ırza tecavüz gibi birçok olumsuz olay yaşanmıştır. Bu olaylar nedeniyle Müslüman halk Doğu Trakya'dan göç etmeye başlamıştır.

At the end of World War I, the Ottoman State withdrew from the war by signing the Mondros Armistice Agreement on 30 October 1918. The Entente States, which were based on the seventh (7th) clause of the armistice, occupied the Ottoman lands. At the Paris Peace Conference, Greece in the Entente States group claimed that Eastern Thrace belonged to Greece, that the Greeks constituted the majority of the population and that the Greeks were killed by the Turks. Later, at the San Remo Conference, The Eastern Thrace was given to Greece. Thus, on 25 July 1920, Greece completed the official occupation of Eastern Thrace. However, Greece came to Eastern Thrace before this date. On 9 January 1919, The Greek Battalion, which came to the protect the Sirkeci-Uzunköprü railway, which was run by the French, started its occupation activities in Eastern Thrace. From this date on, Greek gangs were established by the Greeks in Eastern Thrace. In addition to this, Greek immigrants from Greece to Eastern Thrace were transferred. Many negative incidents such as looting, extortion, theft, massacres, manslaughter and rape against the Muslims have been experienced by the Greek gangs and the Greek Battalion in the Eastern Thrace.
