In this thesis, the main goal is to introduce an optimal portfolio for an insurance company via computation of ruin probability. The optimal portfolio, consisting of one risk and four risks independently, is based on the simple risk process. The ultimate ruin probability is considered as a risk measure of the method for given the mean claim size and the claim frequency. The data is obtained from CEA [12] which is the European insurance and reinsurance federation. For computing the ultimate ruin probability, it is essential to use the mathematical approaches such as the Defective Renewal Equation and the Prabhu-Seal formula. Furthermore, since the Defective Renewal Equation contains an integral inside, it is transformed to ordinary di erential equations (ODE's) by using its derivatives in order to be examined explicitly. Solving the ODE's gives rise to obtain the ruin probability in terms of di erent initial capitals and the weights. Consequently, the optimal portfolio is chosen among these ruin probabilities. Finally, all of the calculations in my dissertation are produced by an appropriate software programming, MAPLE. Excel software is also used in order to export the values of the ruin probabilities.
