Özet
Değişen dünyada postmodern düşünce yapısının izleri tüm disiplinlerde gorülüyor. Postmodernizmin etkileri İngilizce'nin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde de ortaya cıkıyor. İçinde bulundugumuz çağ hem ikinci/yabancı dil öğrencilerini hem de öğretmenlerini etkiliyor. Ders kitapları İngilizce'nin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde en önemli kaynak olarak gorulebilir. Bu bağlamda, bu çalışmada bir vakıf üniversitesinin hazırlık sınıflarında okutulan İngilizce ders kitabının postmodern öğeler içerip içermedigi, içeriyorsa bu ders kitabının bu öğelerin ne şekilde oldugu analiz edilmiştir. Ders kitabını analiz edebilmek için, Finch'den (2006) esinlenerek bir kriter hazırlanmıstır. İkinci adım olarak, bu kitabı sınıfında okutan İngilizce öğretmenlerine, İngilizce ders kitabı analiz kontrol listesi hazırlanıp verilmiştir. Bu kontrol listesinde, katılımcıların postmodern öğeleri önemsiz ile cok önemli arasında değerlendirmeleri istenmiştir. Analiz sırasında, katılımcıların cinsiyet, yaş, eğitim seviyesi, mezun oldukları fakülte ve öğretmenlik tecrübelerini de devreye sokmak icin, kişisel ve profesyonel geçmişlerini sorgulayan bir anket hazırlanılıp verilmiştir. İngilizce ders kitabı analizi sonuçları, ders kitabının postmodern öğeleri içerdiğini göstermektedir. Bununla beraber, İngilizce öğretmenlerinden alınan ders kitabı kontrol analiz listesi ve anket sonuçlarına bakıldığında, araştırmaya katılan İngilizce öğretmenlerinin postmodern öğeleri önemli buldugu ve katılımcıların cinsiyet, eğitim seviyesi, mezun oldukları fakulte ve öğretmenlik tecrubeleri arasındaki farklılıkların postmodernizme verdikleri önemi etkilemediği görülmüştur.

In this changing world, as it is possible to see the impact of postmodern way of thinking in all kinds of disciplines. Effects of postmodernism is also seen in the field of ELT. In that sense, the needs of the learners and teachers are in a rapid change. Therefore, this era has affected both language teachers and foreign/second language learners. Textbooks can be seen as the main sources in EFL classes. In this respect, in this study, an EFL textbook used at preparatory classes of a foundation university in Istanbul is analyzed to see whether or not it reflects postmodernism in its content, and if so, how it is weighed in the content of the chosen EFL textbook. In this respect, a textbook evaluation criteria (adapted from Finch, 2006) has been prepared. As the second step, an English Language Teaching Textbook Evaluation Checklist is prepared and given to the EFL teachers who use this chosen textbook in their class. They are asked to rate the importance of postmodern features from unimportant to very important. To take the participants' gender, age, level of education, major and teaching experience into consideration while analyzing their answers, a questionnaire regarding their personal and professional background has also been prepared and given to them. The results of the textbook analysis depict that the textbook reflects postmodern features. Moreover, the data obtained from the checklist and the questionnaire reveals that EFL teachers in this study attach importance to the presence of postmodern features in the textbook they use and the difference of their gender, level of education, major and teaching experience does not make a difference on their opinions of postmodern approach.
