Özet
Halîfe b. Hayyât, babasının hadisçi olmasının tesiriyle kendisi de hadis ilmine vakıf olmuş ve hadisçiliğinin yanı sıra Târîh ve Tabakât adlı eserleriyle şöhret bulmuştur. Sözkonusu eserlerine daha fazla ilgi gösterilmesi sebebiyle hadisçi kimliğinden ziyade tarihçi kimliğiyle öne çıkmıştır. Özellikle hadisçiliğin kendisine kattığı“nakilde hassasiyet”unsurunun tarihçiliğine de yansımış olmasıyla gerek metodolojik gerekse de tarihçilik açısından onu ayrıcalıklı bir konuma oturtmuştur. Ayrıca Târîh adlı eseri ile kronolojik tarih yazan ilk müellif olması ve bu tarihi bilgilerini de isnad sistemine dayandırması verdiği bilgileri bilimsel bir esasa bağlamıştır. Halîfe b. Hayyât'ın Tabakât adlı eseri ile en eski tabakât yazarı olduğunun ifade edilmesi, onu güzide âlimlerin arasına katmıştır. Tabakât adlı eserinde de ensab ilmini İslâm'dan önceki yıllara dayandırması kitaba ayrı bir değer katmıştır. Bu çalışmada Halîfe b. Hayyât'ın hayatı, kişiliği, eserleri ve tarih anlayışı ile ilgili veriler elde edilmiştir. Yazarın Târîh ve Tabakât adlı eserleri incelenmiş, bu çerçevede tarih yazıcılığıyla ilgili kullanmış olduğu genel yaklaşımı, yöntem ve teknikler tespit edilmiştir.

By the influence of his father being a traditionist, Halîfe b. Hayyât also had the knowledge of the hadith, and along with narrating hadith, he gained fame with his works titled Târîh and Tabakât. Due to the more interest shown in his mentioned works, he became prominent with his identity as a historian rather than his identity as a traditionist. Especially the element of“sensitivity of conveying”which was added to him by narrating hadith, is also reflected in his historiography and has put him in a privileged position both in terms of methodology and historiography. In addition, the fact that he became the first author of chronological history through his work titled Târîh and that he based this historical information on the imputation system enabled him to attach the information to a scientific basis. The fact that Halîfe b. Hayyât was mentioned as the oldest biographer through his work titled Tabakât has placed him among the eminent scholars. The fact that in his work titled Tabakât he based the genealogical knowledge on the years before Islâm added a different value to the book. This study obtains data about Halîfe b. Hayyât's life, personality, works and understanding of history. The author's works titled Târîh and Tabakât were studied, and in this context, the general approach, methods and techniques used in historiography have been determined.
