69 5. ÖZET Bu çalışma, Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Fiziksel Tıp ve Rehabilitasyon Anabilim dalına müracaat eden 60 hasta üzerinde yapılmıştır. Hastalar randomize olarak 30'ar kişilik iki gruba ayrılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı hemipleji tedavisinde Todd Davies+TENS ve Todd Davies tedavi yaklaşımlarının karşılaştırmasını yaparak ortaya çıkan sonuçlan değerlendirmekti. Hastalar grup bir ve grup iki olarak ikiye ayrıldı. Grup birde Todd Davies egzersizleri ile TENS bir arada kullanıldı. Grup ikide sadece Todd Davies egzersiz tekniği uygulandı. Nöromüsküler fasilitasyon egzersizleri her gün öğleden sonra uygulandı. TENS her sabah yarım saat süre ile hastanın tolerans sınırına kadar şiddete ve 100 HZ frekansta uygulandı. Tedavi 8 hafta sürdü ve toplam 48 seans uygulama yapıldı. Hastaların fonksiyonel iyileşme ve spastisite ve günlük yaşam aktiviteleri Todd Davies Formu, Asworth ve modifiye Asworth skala ve Barthel indeksi ile tedavinin başında ve sonunda takip edildi. Birinci grupta tedavi sonuçlan özellikle spastisitede azalma istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecedeydi. Fakat ikinci grupta anlamlılık yoktu. Bu sonuçlara göre Todd Davies + TENS uygulamasının sadece Todd Davies uygulamasına göre daha iyi sonuç verdiği sonucuna vanldı.

SUMMARY This study has been done on the patients admitted to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Medical Faculty of Yüzüncü Yıl University. 60 patients were randomized in two groups. Each group consisted of 30 patients. The aim of this paper is to evaleuta the effectiveness of Todd Davies and Todd Davies+ TENS method for treatment of hemiplegic patients. Two groups patients each were studied (Group one, group two). In group one Todd Davies exercises and TENS were used together for rehabilitation, in group two the technique of Todd Davies exercises were used for rehabilitation. The TENS was delivered at the bearable level of sensory threshold with frequency of 100 Hz half an hour every day in the morning. The treatment protocol consisted of 48 sessions (8 weeks). We made evaluation of patients with Todd Davies Form, Asworth scale and modified Asworth scale and Barthel's Index before the treatment and at the end of it. Stastically significant improvements were recorded especially in spasticity for group 1 but not for group 2. The outcome of both treatments showed that Todd Davies+TENS treatment is more effective than only Todd Davies technique for the hemiplegic patients.
