Özet

Bu çalışma, 20. yüzyıl sanatında ifadenin özgürleşmesine; kişisel dışavurum, grup dinamikleri ve deneyimlenen ân'a dair farkındalıkların geliştirilmesine önemli katkılar sağlamış bir tür olan caz müziğine ait temel kavram ve pratiklerin, ülkemiz yaygın ve örgün eğitim kurumlarında—özellikle de müziğin sosyalleştirici boyutuna vurgu yaparak içselleştirilmesine—yaratıcı bir faaliyet olarak uygulanabilmesine yönelik örnekler oluşturmak amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Her ne kadar eğitim ve caz müziği alanında genişçe bir kaynak mevcutsa da, caz müziğinin sınıf içi etkinliklerine adapte edilebilirliğini; yaygın ya da örgün eğitimde işlevselleştirilebilirlik olanaklarını irdeleyen çalışmalara halen ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın böylesi bir kazanıma hizmet etmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda öğrencilerin hali hazırda kullandıkları, kolay ulaşılabilir, gündelik çalgılarla bir yandan cazın ritmik, melodik, armonik ve biçimsel öğelerini tecrübe ederek bilişsel ve psikomotor gelişim sağlamaları beklenirken; diğer yandan caz doğaçlaması yoluyla kendilerini ifade etme; kendilerine güven duyma; kendilerine özgü“sesi bulma”; yaratıcı düşünme; takım çalışması yapabilme; problem çözme gibi kişilik özellikleri kazanmalarına katkı sağlanması hedeflenmiştir. Belli bir yaş aralığı ve hazır bulunuşluk düzeyi beklenmeden, daha önce caz eğitimi almamış eğitimcilerin de kolaylıkla uygulayabilecekleri pratiklikte olmasına özen gösterilerek hazırlanan etkinlikler, 4 ana başlık altında toplanarak araştırmacının halen müzik öğretmeni olarak görev yapmakta olduğu okulda 10. sınıf seçmeli müzik dersi alan 20 kişilik öğrenci grubu ile dört hafta boyunca, haftada iki ders saati süresince, çalışılmıştır. 4 haftalık süreç sonrasında öğrencilerle yapılan görüşmelerde, etkinliklerden çok keyif aldıkları, bu müziği tanımış olmaktan dolayı mutlu oldukları, ilerideki yaşantılarında bu müziğe mutlaka yer verecekleri; bilhassa doğaçlama çalışmalarında kendilerini özgür hissettikleri, kendilerine güven kazandıkları, ön yargılı olmamaları ve yeniliklere açık olmaları gerektiği şeklinde çıkarımlarda bulundukları gözlemlenmiştir. Yine çalışma öncesi ve sonrası yapılan testlerde, öğrencilerin caz müziğinin temel bileşenlerine dair bilgi düzeylerinde bir hayli artış yaşandığı belirlenmiştir. Tüm bu sürece ilişkin sayısal veriler Değerlendirme Bölümü'nde sunulmuş, öğrenci ve öğretmen görüşlerine dair çıkarımlar Tartışma ve Sonuç Bölümü'nde yorumlanmış, uygulamalar esnasında yapılan görüntü kayıtları cd'ye aktarılarak teze eklenmiştir.

This study was prepared to create creative examples of the implementation of the basic concepts of the jazz music that made important contributions to the liberation of expression in 20th century art and to the development of personal expression, group dynamics and awareness of the experienced moment to implement in our country - to internalize by emphasizing the socializing dimension of music in particular- in informal and formal education institutions. Although there is a wide range of resources in the field of education and jazz music, there is still a need for studies that examine the applicability of jazz music to the classroom activities and the possibilities of functionalization in widespread or formal education. This study is intended to serve such an acquisition. In this context, students are expected to make cognitive and psychomotor development by experiencing the rhythmic, melodic, harmonic and formal elements of jazz with the common instruments that they already use and access easily; On the other hand, contributing to the students' gaining personality traits such as self-expression, self-confidence, finding a unique voice, creative thinking, teamwork, problem-solving by the way of jazz improvisation was aimed. The activities which prepared without expecting certain age range and readiness level by paying attention to the practicality that even the educators who did not have jazz education can easily apply, were gathered under 4 main topics and practiced throughout two hours a week for four weeks with a group of 20 students who took the 10th grade elective music lesson in the school where the researcher is still working as a music teacher. At the interviews made with the students after 4 weeks, it has been observed that they have some inferences such as: they enjoyed the activities very much, they are happy to be familiar with this music, they will definitely include this music in their future life; especially in their impromptu studies, they feel free, they gain confidence, they shouldn't be prejudiced, and they should be open to innovations. Also, it was determined that there was a significant increase in the level of knowledge about the basic components of the jazz music of the students by the help of the tests applied before and after the study. Numerical data related to this process was presented in the Evaluation Section, and the conclusions about the opinions of the students and teachers were interpreted in the Discussion and Conclusion Section and the image records made during the applications were transferred to the CD and added to the thesis.
