Özet
Bir toplumun maddi ve manevi değerlerini oluşturmada önemli bir katkısı olan halkbilimi ögeleri, aynı zamanda o toplumun kültürünü oluşturur. Birçok Türk topluluğunda İslamiyet öncesinden günümüze kadar görülen ağıt söyleme geleneği yüzyıllardan beri yaşayan bir gelenektir. Bu tez çalışmasında Mersin merkez ve ilçelerine ait ağıt metinleri öncelikle sözlü kaynaklardan, akabinde yazılı kaynaklardan tespit edilmiş, bu metinlerden biçim, içerik ve üslup bakımından özgün değeri bulunan toplam 133 ağıt metni hem icra ortamının özellikleri hem de türün kendine özgü yapısı göz önünde bulundurularak halkbilimsel açıdan irdelenmiştir. Alan araştırması sırasında gözlem ve görüşme yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışmamız on bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölüm giriş niteliğinde olup türün tanıtılması ve tezimizin konusu, amacı, kullandığımız yöntem ve teknikleri, çalışmanın kapsam ve sınırını içermektedir. İkinci bölümde ağıt ve yas törenleri ile ilgili bilgiler yer almaktadır. Üçüncü bölümde ağıt türü üzerine yapılan çalışmalar değerlendirilmiştir. Bu bölümde 13 kitap, 12 tez, 27 makale tanıtılmıştır. Tezin dördüncü bölümü araştırma alanı Mersin ilinin tarihi, coğrafyası, nüfus ve ekonomik yapısı ve sosyo-kültürel özelliklerini konu edinmiştir. Beşinci bölümde Mersin ağıtlarının derlenme ve yazıya geçirilmesi ile ilgili bilgiler bulunmaktadır. Altıncı bölümde Mersin'de ağıt yakma geleneği değerlendirilmiştir. Yedinci bölümde Mersin ağıtlarının biçim özellikleri incelenmiştir. Sekizinci bölümde Mersin ağıtlarının dil ve üslup özellikleri metinlerden yola çıkılarak irdelenmiştir. Dokuzuncu bölümde Mersin ağıtları iki ana başlıkta; içeriğin şekillenmesi ve içeriğin incelenmesi biçiminde ele alınmıştır. Onuncu bölümde ise teze dâhil edilen ağıt metinleri öyküleriyle birlikte verilmiştir. Tezin sonunda ise ağıt metinlerinin derlendiği ve tespit edildiği sözlü ve yazılı kaynaklar, ayrıca inceleme alanının haritası ile derleme esnasında çekilen fotoğraflar yer almaktadır.

The folklore material, which is an important contributorto them aterialand spiritual values of a society, also constitutesthe culture of thatsociety. The tradition of telling lamentations seen in many Turkish communities from Pre-Islamic periodtill today is a tradition that has existed for centuries. In this study, the lamentation texts compiled from the center of Mersin and districts were first determined from oral sources and then from the written sources; a total of 133 texts which have unique values in terms of form, content and style from these texts have been examined from the standpoint of folklore considering both the characteristics of the execution environment and its unique structure. Observation and interview methods were used during the field research. Our study consists of ten chapters. The first chapteris introduction and it includes the scope and limit of the work, the methods and techniques we use, the purpose of our introduction and description. In the second chapter, information about lamentations and mourning ceremonies are included. In the third chapter, studies on lament type are evaluated. In this chapter, 13 books, 12 theses, 27 articles are introduced. The fourth chapter of the thesis focuses on the history, geography, population and economic structure and socio-cultural characteristics of the province of Mersin. In the fifth chapter, information about the compilationand writing of Mersin lamentations are available. In the sixth chapter, the tradition of telling lamentations in Mersin was evaluated. In the seventh chapter, the morphological features of Mersin lamentations are examined. In the eighth chapter, the linguistic and stylistic features of the Mersin lamentations were examined through the texts. In the ninth chapter, Mersin lamentations are discussed in two main titles as the shaping of the contents and the examination of the contents. In the tenth chapter, the texts of lamentations included in the thesis are given together with their stories. At the end of the thesis, the oral and written sources where the texts are collected and identified, as well as the map of the study area and the photographs taken during the compilation take part.
