Özet

IV SUMMARY Removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions by polymeric resins and activated carbons prepared from agricultural wastes was investigated in this study. Activated carbons used in this study are prepared from sunflower, white pine sawdust, resinous pine sawdust and pine cones by using ZnCl2 and NH4CI as a chemical activant. These active carbons exhibited a surface area range of 500-700 mY1. The resins used are Dowex 50W(X8), Dowex 50W(X12), Diphonix[H+], RNH-5, Actinide-Cu, RSPO, Diaion CRP200, Purolite 940 and 950, Cyanex 302 impregnated Amberlite polymeric adsorbents. The model solutions are prepared from analytical grade phosphoric acid. All of the reagents used are analytical grade. Metal analysis are made spectrophotometrically, Varian Plus 10 model atomic absorption spectrophotometer was used for metal analysis. Before the metal sorption tests, the activities of the activated carbon samples were measured according to the methylene blue adsorption method it was seen that materials prepared with ZnCU are more active than those prepared with NH4CI. The activated carbons prepared in this study have been used for batch extraction of Cd(II) from aqueous solution. For this study the materials which exhibit higher activity values were used. From the results it was seen that, the activated carbons prepared by using ZnCl2 as activators showed better results than that of NH4C1. Activated carbons are very hopeful for the removal of heavy metal ions from waste waters. In order to get some information about the relative performance of various chelating resins (RSPO, Diphonix, Actinide, Purolite, Diaion, RNH...) the extraction of various metal ions (Cd, Cu, Cr, V, Zn) was investigated as a function of pH. Kinetic measurements have been performed for cadmium uptake by chelating resins. The results of kinetic measurements for Cd uptake from aqueous solutions showed that the resins also have an ability to remove Cd(II) from aqueous solution with a high capacity. Almost all toxic metals are to be found in phosphate rocks, and thus implicity in fertilizers. The most frequent are Cd, Ni, Pb, Zn, Cu, V, Mn, Mo and Hg. Cd is one of the most toxic metals to the living body. The resins exhibited relatively poor cadmium uptake from phosphoric acid solutions.IV SUMMARY Removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions by polymeric resins and activated carbons prepared from agricultural wastes was investigated in this study.
