Özet
Bu çalışma, 2015-2016 öğretim yılında Kayseri il merkezinde devlet ortaöğretim okullarında öğrenim gören dokuzuncu sınıf öğrencilerinin sosyo-kültürel özelliklerini belirleyerek, bu sosyo-kültürel faktörlerin matematik dersindeki başarı durumlarına etkisini araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada konuyla ilgili kaynaklar taranarak matematik öğretiminin önemi, matematik dersi öğretim programları ve eğitim ile sosyo-kültürel yapı arasındaki ilişki hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Örnekleme alınan okulların ortaöğretim dokuzuncu sınıf öğrencilerine araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen öğrenci kişisel bilgi formu uygulanmıştır. Uygulama sonucunda elde edilen verilerin analizi SPSS 23.00 istatistik paket programı kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Dağılımın özellikleri incelenerek uygun istatistiksel teknikler kullanılmış ve veriler analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, cinsiyetin, anne babanın birlikte olma durumunun, ailedeki toplam kişi sayısının, annenin öğrenim durumunun, babanın öğrenim durumunun, babanın mesleğinin, ailenin aylık gelir düzeyinin, ailenin düzenli harçlık verme durumunun, öğrencilerin mezun olmak istedikleri öğretim kademesinin, öğrencilerin boş zamanlarında yaptığı etkinliklerin, öğrencilerin günlük televizyon izleme sürelerinin, öğrencilerin okul haricinde bir işte çalışıp çalışmama durumunun, öğrencilerin kendine ait odası olma durumunun, öğrencilerin evlerinde internet olma durumunun, öğrencilerin bilgisayarı kullanma amaçlarının, öğrencilerin günlük matematik dersine çalışma sürelerinin, öğrencilerin ailesinin matematik dersi çalışmalarına yardım etmesi, öğrencilerin destekleme ve yetiştirme kursuna gidip gitmemelerinin, öğrencilerin sosyal ve kültürel faaliyetlere katılıp katılmama durumlarının, öğrencilerin ailelerinin düzenli olarak ilgilenip ilgilenmeme durumunun, velilerin öğrencilerinin durumunu öğrenmek için hangi sıklıkla öğretmenleriyle görüştüğünün ve öğrencilerin matematik yazılılarına çalışmaya başlama zamanının matematik dersindeki başarı durumlarında etkili olduğu görülmüştür. Ancak, annenin çalışma durumu, öğrencilerin öğrenim gören kardeş sayısı, öğrencilerin kitap okuma sıklığı, öğrencilerin matematik dersinden özel ders alıp almama durumu, öğrencilerin arkadaşlarıyla ders çalışıp çalışmama durumu ve ailelerin öğrencileriyle ilgili beklentileri matematik dersindeki başarı durumunda etkili faktörler olmadığı görülmüştür.

This study has been done in order to specify the social-economic characteristics of the pupils who study at the public high schools at the downtow of Kayseri in 2015-2016 educational year and to research the effects of these social-economic features on the Maths courses. In this research, the importance of teaching Maths, the Maths curriculum and the relationship between the education and the social-cultural system have been clarified by analysing the related sources. The personal information forms, which are developed by the researcher, are applied to the pupils who are the 9th grade in the sample schools. The analysis acquired as a result of the applications are carried out using the SPSS 23.00 statistics packaged software. By studying the characteritics of the range, the proper statistics techniques are used and the data has been analysed. As a result of the research, it has been observed that the gender;the state of whether the parents are together or not;the number of the family members, the father's occupation, the state of the family's monthly income, the state of family's giving pocket-money, the grade which pupils want to graduate from, the free time activities of pupils, the time which pupils spend on watching TV, the state of whether they work for a job apart from school, the state of whether they have their own room or not, the pupil's aim for using computer, the time which pupils spend on studying Maths, the state of whether they attend the extra classes which are controlled by their schools, the state of whether they take part in the social- cultural activities or not, the state of whether their parents take care of them regularly or not, how often the parents visit the school to get information about their son or daughter from his/her teachers, and when the pupils start studyingfor their exams have impact on the success of pupils in Maths. However, it has also been obseved in the study that whether the mother of the pupil work or not, the number of siblings who are also studying at any grade, the frequency of reading, the state of whether the pupils have private classes in Maths or not, the state of whether they study with their friends or not and the expectations of parents from their son or daughter have no impact on the success in Maths.
