Özet
Rusya, dünya devleti olmak ve daha güneye doğru giderek sıcak denizlere inmek amacıyla Kafkasya'ya hâkim olmak isteyen güçlü bir devletti. 18. Yüzyılla birlikte Osmanlı Devleti'nin zayıflamasını fırsat bilen Ruslar, Karadeniz'in karakolu hükmünde olan Kafkasya'daki toprakları ele geçirmeye başladı. Aynı zamanda Ruslar, ele geçirdiği bu topraklarda yaşayan, Osmanlı Devleti'ne bağlı ve çoğunluğu Müslüman olan halkı, bölgedeki çıkarlarına ve politikalarına tehdit olarak gördüğünden onları türlü işkenceler, eziyetler ve katliamlarla Kafkasya'dan hem sürgüne gönderdiler hem de göç ettirdiler. İnsanların Kafkasya'dan göç etmesi ise oldukça meşakkatli oldu. Bu göç sürecinde Osmanlı Devleti, Rusya'nın zulmünden kaçarak gelen bu halka kapılarını açtı. Fakat gerek devletin içinde bulunduğu sıkıntılı durum, gerekse yanlış ve eksik uygulamalar bu yardımı sınırlı kılıyordu. Bu yüzden bazı acı sonuçlar da ortaya çıkmaktaydı. Bunun yanında göçmenlerin sevk ve nakliyesi konusunda da bazı sıkıntılar yaşanmıştı. Dolayısıyla çalışmada, 1877-1878 Osmanlı-Rus Harbinden sonraki 23 yıllık süre içerisinde Kafkas halklarını göçe götüren süreç, göçlerin nedenleri, göç yolları ve yaşanan sorunlar ele alınmıştır.

Russia was a powerful state seeking to dominate the Caucasus in order to become a world state and go further South to the hot seas. Russia, who had the opportunity to weaken the Ottoman Empire with the 18th century, began to take over the territories in the Caucasus, which were in the Black Sea's guardhouse. At the same time, Russians, as they threatened the interests and policies of the people living in these lands and belonging to the Ottoman State and the majority Muslims, were sent to exile from the Caucasus with various kinds of torture, persecutions and massacres and also emigrated. The migration of people from the Caucasus was quite a hassle. During this period of immigration, the Ottoman State opened the doors of these people who escaped from the persecution of Russia. But the troubled situation in the state, and wrong and incomplete practices, made this aid limited. So, some painful consequences also appeared. Inaddition, there were some troubles about the transportation and transportation of immigrants. Therefore, in the study, the process leading to the Caucasian peoples, the causes of migration, the ways of migration, and the problems experienced during the 23 years following the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-1878 were discussed.
