Özet
Geçmişini bilmek geleceğe yön tayin etmenin en önemli adımıdır. Devletler ve toplumlar açısından olumlu yönde değişmek ve her alanda gelişmek ana hedeftir. Bu yolda kurulan sistem içerisinde nüfus, maksimum verimle yönetilebilirse en önemli güçtür. Dil ve tarih araştırmacılarının vazgeçilmez kaynakları arasında bulunan nüfus incelemeleri ve kaydedildiği defterler, mükemmel birer arşiv belgeleri olarak, bir coğrafyadaki nüfusun kaynağı, sayısı, kökeni, tarihi, ekonomisi, kültürel, sosyal, dini, etnik vb. yapısı hakkında bilgi verir ve bu doğrultuda nüfusun yönetimini kolaylaştırarak ana hedefe giden yolu açarlar. Bu çalışmada, Osmanlı Devletinde ilk nüfus sayımı olan 1831 yılı sayımı ve bu sayımdan sonraki ikinci sayım olan 1844 tarihli nüfus sayımı ile Karapınar nam-ı diğer Sultaniye kazasının genel durumu ile ilgili bilgi verilmiş, 1844 tarihli nüfus sayımı hakkında Konya Sancağı'na bağlı Karapınar kazasına ait 3416 ve 3441 nolu Nüfus Ceride Defterlerindeki nüfus yapısı incelenerek Müslüman ve gayrimüslim nüfus ile ilgili kayıtlar günümüz Türkçesine çevrilmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi amacıyla tablolar ve grafikler yardımıyla ortaya koyulan istatistiki bilgiler ile kaza nüfusunun miktarı ve demografik yapısı tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Knowing the past is the most important step to shape the future. The main target is to change positively in states and societies and to develop in all areas. If population can be directed with maximum efficiency within the system set up on this way, then it would be the most important power. Population reviews and books recorded among the necessary references for researchers on language and history give information each as a perfect archive documents about the source, number, origin, history, economy, and cultural, social, religious and ethnical structure etc of a population in a geography and at this point, it opens the way to main target by facilitating population management. In this study, knowledge is provided about 1831 census which is the first census in the Ottoman Empire and about general situation of Karapınar county, also known as Sultaniye, with the census dated 1844 which was the next second census, and population structure in the Population Book no 3416 and 3441 pertaining to Karapinar County of Konya Sanjak (district) about the census dated 1844 was reviewed, and records related to the Moslem and non-Moslem population have been translated into today's Turkish. In order to better understand the data obtained, population quantity and demographical structure of county has been attempted to be determined through statistical information presented by the means of tables and graphics.
