Özet
Antik Yunan'da beden algısı ve tragedya üzerine odaklanan bu tezin amacı, Foucaultcu ve Butlercı anlamda iktidarın bedenleşen yüzünün Antik Yunan tragedyaları üzerinden nasıl okunabileceğini, Antik Yunan tragedyalarının toplumsal normu ve iktidarı nasıl teatral bir performansa dönüştürdüğünü anlatmaktır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde tarih çizgisi üzerinde bedenin tanımlamalarına ve konumuna bakılmış; ikinci bölümde Foucaultcu iktidarın bedenler arası bir kipe nasıl dönüştüğü ve toplumsal normun, cinsiyetli bedenler üzerinden nasıl yaratıldığı incelenmiştir. Takip eden bölümlerdeyse, ilk iki bölümde detaylı bir şekilde incelenmeye çalışılan olguların Aiskhylos, Sophokles ve Euripides tragedyalarında karşımıza nasıl çıktığı örnekler üzerinden incelenmiş; Antik Yunan tragedyalarının beden ihlalini içeren yapılar olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.

The aim of this thesis, with its focus on the perception of physical body and tragedy in Ancient Greece, is to depict how the Butlerian and Foucauldian notion of power can be unveiled in the form of the human body in Ancient Greek tragedies and how these tragedies transfer norms and power that are effective over the society into theatrical performances. The first chapter of this thesis examines the definitions of the body and how the body is situated throughout history. The second chapter focuses on how Foucauldian notion of power becomes a determinant factor on physicality and how social norm is created through gendered bodies. The following chapters examines the tragedies of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides in order to explore how the issues discussed in the first two chapters are reflected on their works, as representatives of Ancient Greek tragedies. The thesis concludes with the claim that Ancient Greek tragedies are the structures that incorporates the violation the physical body.
