Özet
Ekonominin en temel kanunlarından biri de arz ve talep kanunundur. Bilindiği üzere dünya deniz ticareti de bu arz ve talebin türetilmiş bir talebidir. Arz ve talep edilen malların büyük bir çoğunluğu da deniz yoluyla taşınmaktadır. Dolayısıyla arz ve talebi etkileyen faktöreler deniz taşımacılığını da etkilemektedir. Arz ve talebi etkileyen en büyük faktörlerden biri de malların fiyatlarıdır. Deniz ticaretinin en büyük hacimli ticaret kalemlerinden biri de petrol taşımacılığıdır. İlk paragrafta bahsedildiği üzere, petrol fiyatları bu ticareti muhakkak önemli derecede etkileyecektir. Kısa dönemde petrol fiyatları tarihin en yüksek seviyesine çıkmış ve bu seviyeyi koruyamayarak tarihin en düşük seviyelerine gerilemiştir. Gemi arzının kaynağı olan gemi inşada gemi yapım süresi 1-3 yıl arasında değişmektedir. Bu yüzden bu çalışmada yaklaşık 3 yıllık veriler kullanılmıştır. Üretim fonksiyonlarından biri değiştirilebildiği için dönem kısa dönem olarak varsayılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, petrol fiyatlarıyla tanker piyasası arasındaki kısa dönemli ilişkiyi incelemektir. Çalışmada bazı ekonometrik testler uygulanarak tanker piyasası incelenmiş ve bu testlerdeki petrol fiyatlarının payı belirlenmiştir. Böylece ham petrol fiyatlarının tanker piyasına kısa dönemdeki etkileri ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır.

Law of supply and demand is the one of the main economic law. As is known, world seaborne transportation demand is derived from these supply and demand. Majority of the goods that supplied and demanded are transported by sea. Hence the factors that affect supply and demand also affect sea transportation. The one of the most important factors that affect supply and demand is price of the goods. Oil transportation has one of the highest transportation volume in sea transportation. As mentioned above, oil price will definitely affect this transportation activity. In the short run, oil prices had reached the highest levels and then they have fallen to lowest levels in the history. Building a ship activity which is the source of ship supply takes time between 1-3 years. So the data which covers about 3 years is used in this academic study. It is assumed as short run because of changing one of the production functions in this period. The objective of this academic study is examining the short run relationship between oil prices and tanker market. In this study, tanker market is examined via some econometric tests and share of oil price is determined in these tests. In this way the effects of crude oil prices on the tanker market in the short run is tried to find out.
