Özet
XIX. ve XX. yüzyılda hızlı bir gelişme gösteren basın, istek ve bek lentilerin gerçekleşmesi için gerekli kamuoyu oluşturmanın en önemli aracı haline gelmiştir. Bu bakımdan Millî Mücadele' nin amaçlarını kitle lere duyurabilmesi, benimsetmesi ve destek bulması, mücadelenin önemli bir boyutunu oluşturur. Bu araştırmada, Millî Mücadele'nin Çukurova'daki temsilcisi duru mundaki Yeni Adana Gazetesi neşriyatı incelenmiştir. Gazetenin yayın hayatı, yazı heyeti, düşünce yapısı, iç ve dış gelişmeler hakkındaki görüşleri değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca Yeni Adana gazetesi yayınlarının Millî Mücadele'ye etki ve katkısıyla, Çukurova'da işgale karşı mücadelenin bütün boyutlarıyla tesbitine çalışılrmştır. Yeni Adana gazetesi koleksiyonunu esas alan bu çalışmada, mahalli basın Ankara basını incelenerek hem gazetenin etkinliği hem de karşı görüş değerlendirilmiştir. Gazeteye yansıyan haberler ile düşünce ve değerlendirmeler, ATAŞE Arşivi, Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi, TBMM Zabıt Ceridesi, yayınlanmış belgeler, hatıralar ve araştırmalarla destek lenmiştir. Böylece olayların doğrulanması ve tamamlanması sağlanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, gazetenin, Millî Mücadele lehinde kamuoyu oluşmasmda etkin rol oynadığı ve karşıpropagandayı etkisiz hale getir diği görülmüştür. Çukurova'da Millî Mücadele'nin örgütlenmesi, maddî ve manevi destek sağlanması, Ankara ile iletişimin kurulması konu larında Yeni Adana'nın etkili olduğu görülmüştür. Bölge halkının Millî Mücadele konusunda bilgilendirilmesi ve Millî Mücadele'nin başarısına inancın geliştirilmesi de Yeni Adana sayesinde gerçekleşmiştir.

This study is not a press research is the technical sense, nor has it any claim to retell of the Fight for National Independance. The purpose of the study is to set forth te approach of thenewspaper 'Yeni Adana“ to wards the developments which occured at that period. We therefore old the view that the study will contribute greatly to the biringing to ligt of the intellectual atmosphere. In other words, this study has the aim of finding out how the developments which took place between 1919- 1922 found echo in the press and public opinion, and that upon which wievs and criteria these developments were founded. We also endevaou- red to determine the reaction of public opinon and non-governmental organizations abaut the events. This study consists of four main sections apart from the introduc tion, conslusion and appendices. In the introduction, the function of the press regarding the formation of public opinion as well as the develop ments in the world and Ottoman press were summarized. In the first part the publication life, editorial board efficiency, tendency and other qualities of ”Yeni Adana“ were studied. In the second part, the attitude of the newspaper 'Yeni Adana”towards the National Independence and TBMM (Turkish Grand National Assembly) and the Ankara Government were appreciated. In the third part, the views regarding the foreign po licy were determined, while in the fourth part the viewpoint of 'Yeni Adana“ about the fight for National Independence in Çukurova as well as its activities in and contribution ta it were determined. The study is essentially based on the archives of 'Yeni Adana”. Cer tain local newspapers were made use of as well so as to find out the anti- theses. Among the sources we made use of are The General Staff Archives known as“ATASE”, Ottoman Archives, and memoirs of the na tive and poreign researchers. As a result, it was found out that 'Yeni Adana" contributed signifi cantly to the organization of the National Independance in Çukurova and to the formation of the public opinion on this issue. The Organization of the National Independance in Çukurova, the economic and social fac tors were brought to light.
