89with the richness and quality of its motives. Özet (Çeviri)

Turks who l ive in Middle Asia, on a wide geographical area, have learned to l ive in hard natural conditions and they unified with nature. They earn their living from animal raising and hunting as a necessity of their nomadic life style. This situation lets them know animals well. Their appropriation to the religions in vrhich the nature take the most important place like Shamanism, Naturism, Totemism make them to apply magıc and talisman in order to have their huntings productive, protect the herd they raise and themselves from wild animal attacks. They bel ieve that facilities of that animals like power, guickness, speed could transfer to themselves by carrying the shapes of the animals whose power they regard and at the same time be afraid. For that purpose, they weave ali this animals' motives on horse harness equipments, belts and buckles, carpet, kilim and weavings ete. which are used to furnish the inside of tents. This animal style formed at the end brought animal figured carpets by itself. We took the animal figured carpets as the topic of our work and Pazırık Carpet was the first design of that carpets. This carpet refinement was taken out from the fifth Pazırık tomb that belongs to 3rd-2nd centuries B.C in Altays and draws attention 91with the richness and quality of its motives. After this design there has not been found any animal figured carpet design in the long time period up to the 14th centuries. But, in 14th century it was firstly seen on the pictures of European painters then the original designs were found. As it is in hen figured carpet in Konya Mevlana Museum and the bird figured carpet design in Fustat. Further more, an original carpet design on which animal figures are put outside the geometric sections is found. This 92design is the four-legged animal figured carpet that exists in Fustat. The animal design could make continue their existence until the end of 16th century and up to that date animal figured carpets are woven. From the end of 16th century the animal figures on Turkish Carpets began to disappear and the carpets on which the geometric motives dominate take place of them. Therefore, the animal figured carpets period which is risen from Ancient Turks' life style and believes finished. 93
