Özet
ÖZET İki aşamadan oluşan bu çalışmanın amacı, aile uyumu, öğrenci özgüveni ve akademik başarı arasındaki ilişkilerin saptanmasıdır. Piers-Harris öz kavramı ölçeğinin alt ölçek geçerlilik, güvenirlik ve norm çalışmaları birinci aşamayı oluşturmuştur. Bu çalışmada İstanbul ilinde yer alan çeşitli orta öğretim kurumlarında öğrenim gören 14-17 yaşları arasındaki 459 öğrenci kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar bütün alt ölçeklerin bilimsel araştırmalarda kullanılabilecek düzeyde olduğunu göstermiştir. İkinci aşamada, 15-I0 yaşları arasındaki 152 Lise î öğrencisi ve ailelerinden oluşan örneklem grubu üzerinde aşağıda sıralanan denenceler smanmıştır. a) Uyumlu ailede yetişen çocukların özgüveni, uyumsuz ailede yetişen çocuklara göre belirgin bir düzeyde yüksektir. b) Uyumlu ailede yetişen çocukların akademik başarısı, uyumsuz ailede yetişen çocuklara göre belirgin bir ûüzej?e yüksektir. c) Özgüveni yüksek olan çocukların akademik başarıları özgüveni düşük olan çocuklara göre belirgin bir düzeyde yüksektir. d) Uyum, özgüven ve akademik başarı puanları, cinsiyet/ana-baba eğitim/ana-baba yaş farkı/ana-baba özel meraklan/anne çalışma durumu değişkenlerine göre belirgin bir düzeyde farklılık gösterecektir. e)“AYDA”,“WIFAM”ve akademik basan arasında anlamlı düzeyde ilişkiler vardır. f } Uyum ve özgüven, akademik basan üzerinde etkilidir. g) Uyum ve akademik başarı, özgüven üzerinde etkilidir. h) Özgüven ve akademik başarı uyum üzerinde etkilidir.71 Araştırmada“Piers-Harris öz kavramı ölçeği* ”AYDA aile yapısını değerlendirme aracı“, okul kayıtlarından alman öğrenci yıl sonu ağırlıklı not ortalamaları ve aileyi tanıma formu veri toplamada kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın istatistiksel analizlerinde; -Cronbach alpha -Item Total, Item Remainder -Bağımsız grup ”t" testi -Pearson momentler çarpım korelasyonu -Bir boyutlu varyans analizi -Kay Kare -Regresyon tekniklerinden yararlanılmıştır. Bulgulara göre denence (a), (b), (f), Çg), (h) tamamen, (d) ve (e) kısmen kabul edilmiştir. Denence (c) ise reddedilmiştir.

VII ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between family coherence, self confidence of the adolescents and academic achievement. The study has been realized in two phases: The first phase comprises the norm studies and the testing of the reliability and the validity of the subscales of Piers-Harris Self -concept Scale. For this purpose, the Scale has been administred to 459 high school students (aged 14-17 yrs.) Results show that the subscales are also reliable instruments to be used in researche studies. The second phase consists of the testing of the below stated hypotheses: a) The self-confidence of adolescents brought up in coherent families are significantly higher than of those brought up in incoherent families. b) The academic performance of adolescents brought up in coherent families are significantly higher than of those brought up in incoherent families. c) The academic performance of the adolescents having high self- confidence are significantly higher than of those having low self- confidence.VIII d) Family coherence, self-confidence and academic achievement scores vary significantly in relation with the following variables; sex, parents' education, parents' age difference, parents' hobbies, working mother. e) There is a significant relationship between academic achievement, Piers-Harris self -concept Scale and AYDA Family Structure Evaluation Instrument. f) Family coherence and self-confidence are effective on academic achievement. g) Family coherence and academic achievement are effective on self- confidence. h)Self -confidence and academic achievement are effective on family coherence. To test these hypotheses, 152 nine graders (aged 15-16 yrs.) and their families were selected and“Piers -Harris Self -concept Scale”,“AYDA Family Structure Evaluation Instrument”, Students' G.P.A. (grade point average) and Family Description Form were used. Various statistical tests were used for the evaluation of the collected information. The results of the analyses show that: -hypotheses (a), (b), (f ), (g), (h) are accepted -hypotheses (d), (e) are partially accepted -hypothesis (c) is rejected.
