Doktora tezi olarak sunduğum“ İlkokul Öğretmenlerinde Meslekten Tükenmişliğin Gelişimini Etkiliyen Değişkenlerin Analizi ve Bir Model Önerisi. (İzmir İli Kırsal ve Kentsel Yöre Karşılaştırması)”adlı çalışmanın, tarafımdan, bilimsel ahlak ve geleneklere aykırı düşecek bir yardıma başvurulmaksızın yazıldığını ve yararlandığım eserlerin bibliyografyada gösterilenlerden oluştuğunu, bunlara atıf yapılarak yararlanılmış olduğunu belirtir ve bunu onurumla doğrularım. The objective of the current study was to substantiate the validity of Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) which had been developed to assess the intersity of occupational, burnout in primary school teachers and to emphasize the related factors. The study was performed with a sample representative of the comprehensive cluster composed of the primar school teachers working in İzmir, among the total of 38 schools included in the study, 23 were located in metropolitan areas of different socio-economic levels, while 15 were suburban. MBI sheet for Teachers was utilised for 401 subjects, (253 female, 148 male) MBI comprises 3 subscales name, Emational Exhaustion (EE) Depersonalization (DP), and Personal Accompishment (PA) Test-retest was used to determine the confidentiality with the conseventive scores of. 86. 69, and. 83, for EE, DP and PA respectively. Cronbach Alpha Coefficient for theree distinct subscales were. 87,.63, and. 74, again in the same order. For validity of the scale, a parallel form to MBI inquining“about the subject”was developed and delivered to the subjects colleagues. Scores obtained by this procedure were as follows: r=.59, for EE; r=.68, for DP, and r=.48 for PA“Sehool Identity Card”for each scholl,“Inquiriy About Socio-economic levels”of the participants,“Maslach Burnout Inventory Sheet for Teachers”for assessment of burnout degree and the“paraleli form”to MBI for determining the validity of the scale were the materials used in the study. The components actingon emotional exhaustion (EE) included, the rank possessed in the school (director-teacher), the cause for maintaining the occupation, selection of the occupation with or without ambition, colleagues support, appreciation of the superior- ranked (directors), subject's perception of public apprehension on hisduty, and, satisfaction of educational framework. Variables effective on DP subscale were as follows gender, years in occupation, subjects perception of public apprehension on the her duty, satisfaction of educational framework, and, the socio-economic level for the metropolitan schools. For PA scores, year in occupation in the school, cause for maintaining the occupation appreciatin of the superior ranked (directors), and, socio-economic level the factors found to be effective. Additional to above-mentioned factors, age, subject's perception of self-suitability for his duty, occupational expectations for the future and satisfaction with the occupational environmet were the components which affected all the subscales of burnout. No significant differences between the scores of burnout were observable, for the teachers working in unban or sububan areas.
