Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is an enterprise-wide information system which assists organizations to manage the effective and efficient usage of resources. ERP implementation and the success of its results have been extensively cited in literature but the analysis of its effectiveness is rare and fragmented. In this study, Capability Maturity Model (CMM) was used to analyse the ERP implementation; CMM as a guide, is used to comprehend the capability of software programs and determines the maturity of the software's capability and then helps organizations to improve it. As an ERP software program, SAP, a pioneer in enterprise systems, was assessed and CMM has measured the maturity by evaluating the usage of key process activities of SAP. Both CMM and ERP have the same aim of helping organizations achieve their targets in a rapid and efficient way. By combining them, the maturity level of the SAP implementation of a factory has been discussed in the study and some recommendations have also been given to improve it.
