The excessive use of force by law enforcement authorities in counter protest duties has been widely discussed for many years in the context of security vs. freedoms. Despite the legal framework in democratic nations disallowing officers from behaving in such a manner, the fundamental rights of peaceful protestors are still being breached. This ongoing violation of law, rights and freedoms necessitates a thorough examination of the whole justice system with regard to the right to peaceful protest and public order policing. Adequate responses to the common human rights problems should include measures that are capable of fixing the whole system. Addressing such violations by punishing law enforcement officers without taking into account the existing loopholes in the legal framework, only delivers temporary justice to the victims. Permanent recovery depends on the extent to which policy makers are capable of introducing a system that leads to solid achievements in the field of human rights.
