Özet
Bu tez, başkalık nosyonunun yirminci yüzyılda nasıl ve neden felsefenin merkezi bir kavramı haline geldiği sorusundan hareket etmektedir. Başkalık kavramının, Avrupa kültürünün kriziyle bağlantılı biçimde, yirminci yüzyıl düşüncesine yön veren filozoflar tarafından bir çözüm olarak nasıl ortaya koyulduğuna odaklanmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışma boyunca Edmund Husserl, Martin Heidegger ve Emmanuel Levinas'ın felsefi öğretilerine odaklanılacak ve sırasıyla fenomenolojik, ontolojik ve etik perspektiflerden başkalık kavramının nasıl ele alındığı irdelenecektir. Husserl, Heidegger ve Levinas'ın fenomenolojik, ontolojik ve etik perspektiflerinin kavramın içeriklendirilmesinde sunmuş oldukları katkılar ve bu düşünme momentlerinin girmiş olduğu açmazlar çalışmanın sonuç bölümünün argümanı için zemin hazırlayacaktır. Her bir düşünme momentinin içerisinden geçerek bu çalışmanın göstermeyi amaçladığı şey, her ne kadar fenomenolojik, ontolojik ve etik perspektiflerin kavramın sınırlarının çizilmesinde muazzam katkıları bulunsa da başkalığın ancak siyaset felsefesi zemininde tam içeriğine kavuşabileceğidir. This thesis intends to discuss the question of how and why the notion of otherness became a central concept of the 20th century philosophy. The study mainly focuses on how this concept has been put forward by the leading philosophers of 20th century as a solution to the crisis of European culture. In this context, the study will concentrate on the philosophical doctrines of Edmund Husserl, Martin Heidegger and Emmanuel Levinas with regards to their handling of otherness from phenomenological, ontological and ethical perspectives respectively. Along with the contributions to the definition and meaning of the concept, the impasses of these intellectual endeavours consisting of the phenomenological, ontological and ethical perspectives of Husserl, Heidegger and Levinas will provide a basis for the consequential argument of this study. By passing through each of these intellectual moments, this thesis aims to assert that, despite all the enormous contributions of phenomenological, ontological and ethical perspectives, the concept of otherness can only reach its accurate meaning when discussed on the basis of political philosophy.
