Özet
PREFACE In the investigation of wind-wave interactions, the relationship between winds and wave have been researched through simultaneous analysis, but the effects of former winds on the waves haven't been researched sufficiently. For this particular reason, this study has aimed to investigate such an effect in the case of Filyos Port located West Blacksea Region. The author wishes to express his sincere appreciation to all the individuals and organizations which contributed to this study. Arisoy) SUMMARY In the desing of the marine structures, determining of the wave characteristics generated by winds is needed. On the other hand, obtaining such a knowledge through straight observations cannot be realized due to the lack of economical and technical reasons. Anticipating the characteristics of the waves through winds is a very common way when observations fail to determine them. Although there are some developed methods on this particular subject, the results of these methods in several applications haven't been searched thoroughly. In the investigation of wind-wave interactions, the relationship between winds and wave have, so far, been researched through simultaneous analysis, but the effects of winds occuring previously on waves haven't been observed satisfactorily. In this study, the effects of previous winds on the waves have been investigated in the case of Filyos Port located West Blacksea Region. Applications have indicated that the waves have been affected mostly by the previous winds occured 3 or 4 hours ago and the effect has then gradually lessened. 1 1
