Özet
Rauf Yekta Bey ile İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu arasında geçen bir polemik konusundan yola çıkarak başlattığımız bu çalışmada, Son Osmanlı ve Cumhuriyet dönemi musikişinas ve aydınlarına ait derlediğimiz birçok kitap, dergi, mecmua ve gazete yazısı taranarak, yazılarda geçen doğrudan ve dolaylı müzik sosyolojisi içerikli bölümler tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde, müzik sosyolojisinin daha yeni gelişen bir bilim dalı olması, bu alanda yapılan çalışmaların yetersizliği ve tarafımızca ayrıştırılan müzik sosyolojisi içerikli bölümlerin daha iyi kavranabilmesi nedeniyle, sırasıyla sosyoloji, sanat sosyolojisi ve müzik sosyolojisi kavramları açıklanmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra dönemin sosyal hayatını tarif eden kısa bir açıklamaya da yine bu bölümde yer verilmiştir. Tezin ikinci bölümünde, musikişinas ve aydınların başta gazete ve mecmua yazıları olmak üzere derlediğimiz kitap, dergi ve konferans metinleri taranarak müzik sosyolojisi içeriğine uygun düşen ifadeler tespit edilmiştir. İncelenen makale ve yazılara tarafımızca müzik sosyolojsi içerikleriyle örtüşen başlıklar verilerek, tespit edilen bölümlerin müzik sosyolojisi ile olan bağlantıları üzerine yorumlarda bulunulmuştur. Sonrasında, yapılan araştırma sonucunda elde edilen veriler müzik sosyolojisi perspektifiyle analiz edilerek, makalelerde geçen müzik sosyolojisi içerikli ifadelerin bir birleri ile olan benzerlik ve farklılıklarını ortaya koyan bir değerlendirmeye çalışmanın sonuç bölümünde yer verilmiştir.

In this study which is based on an argument between Rauf Yekta Bey and İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu, by scanning through the various books, magazines, journals and articles that we compiled, concerning the musicians of the late Ottoman and Republican periods, it has been figured out that some passages in them are, directly or indirectly, linked with musical sociology. In the first chapter of the study owing to the facts that musical sociology is a newly developing area of science in which there are only a few studies on it and that passages concerning the musical sociology require a better understanding of us, the concepts of sociology, sociology of art and musical sociology have been explained respectively. A brief section portraying the social life of the period also has found its place in this chapter. In the second chapter of the thesis by scanning through the books, magazines and conference texts that we compiled out of the works of the musicians and the enlightened, particularly their articles in newspapers and journals, statements in compliance with the content of musical sociology have been found out. By giving out the titles which correspond to the contents of musical sociology in the articles and writings that have been studied, we made comments on the connections of the detected passages with musical sociology. The data, acquired as a result of a further study following this one, has been analyzed in the perspective of musical sociology and an assessment representing the similarities and differences of the statements concerning the musical sociology in the articles is included in the conclusion chapter.
