Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı sınıf içi öğretim sürecinde etkinlik dışı çoklu görevlerin akademik başarıya etkisini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla 2013-2014 eğitim-öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Kilis 7 Aralık Üniversitesi Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulu Tıbbi Dokümantasyon ve Sekreterlik bölümü ile Eğitim Fakültesi Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği bölümündeki 1. sınıf öğrencileri ve Türkçe Eğitimi bölümündeki 2.sınıf öğrencilerden oluşturulan toplam 122 öğrencileri ile deneysel bir çalışma yürütülmüştür. Araştırma deneysel modele dayalı olarak, öntest sontest kontrol gruplu desene göre, iki deney ve bir kontrol grubu ile yapılmıştır. Üç hafta boyunca Kontrol grubuyla kâğıt kalemle not alarak ve ders esnasında hiçbir teknolojiyi kullanmayarak ders işlenmiş, Deney-I grubuyla ders esnasında cep telefonuyla mesajlaşmalarına izin verilmiş, Deney-II grubuyla da ders esnasında Facebook kullanmalarına izin verilmiştir. Uygulamalardan önce ve sonra öğrencilerden konu başarı testini cevaplamaları istenmiş, elde edilen veriler SPSS programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada öne sürülen hipotezleri test etmek için Levene testi, ANOVA, ANCOVA, bağımlı grup t-testi, betimlemeli istatistik analiz yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Öntest ve sontest sonuçlarına göre Kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin Deney-I ve Deney-II grubu öğrencilerine göre, Deney-I grubu öğrencilerinin de Deney-II grubu öğrencilerine göre daha yüksek performans sergiledikleri tespit edilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to identify the effect of off-task multitasking on academic achievement in the context of classroom instruction. This study is an experimental study. It was implemented with 122 students from Kilis 7 Aralık University during spring semester in 2013-2014 academic year. The participants were selected from first-graders attending the Medical Documentation and Secretaryship Department in Health Services Vocational School and Social Sciences Teaching Department in Faculty of Education, and second-graders attending Turkish Language Teaching Department in Faculty of Education. The research was based on pre-test and post-test control group model. Two experimental groups and one control group was used in this research. In the Control group, teaching was done by taking notes using paper and pencils for three weeks, but technology was not used at all during courses. In Experiment-I group, the students were allowed to exchange sms via mobile phones during the lesson, while those in Experiment-II group were allowed to use the Facebook in the lesson. The students were given an achievement test both before and after the implementation. Pre-test and post-test data were analyzed with SPSS. Research hypotheses were tested by using Levene test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, dependent group t-test, and descriptive statistical analysis methods. Pre-test and post-test results showed that the participants in control group were more successful than those in the experimental groups. Particularly, the students in experiment-I achieved higher than experiment-II.
