212 SUMMARY This study is a monography on tne history of Turkish Press. The subject of this study is the periodical named“Yurt ve Dünya”, which was published between January 1941 and March, 15, 1944 with 42 issues. With the 40's political values,“Yurt ve Dünya”was on the left side of the political spectrum. Taking precedence“Yurt ve Dünya”took side against the reactionary, racist and chauvinist movement which was progressed under the infuluence of Nazism. The periodical went into polemics with the racist periodicals, like Çığır. Besides this, in the periodical, rural development and populism was took place. With the connection of rural development folklore studies took place in the periodical, too. The writers gave importance to another subject, art. The writers of Yurt ve Dünya write about literature, music and theather in the movement Socialis Realism. In the origin of writing about racizm, rural development and art, in the movement socialist realism, lies the tought that Yurt ve DÜnya was on the left side of the political spectrum. The founders of the periodical was, Niyazi Berkes, Adnan Cemgil, Pertev Naili Boratav, Behice Boran and Medina Berkes.
