DC SUMMARY The Nation Party was founded on July 19, 1948. The honorary president of the party was Marshall Fevzi Çakmak and general president was Hikmet Bayur. The party was founded by the deputies who departed from the Democratic Party. Besides Hikmet Bayur from 1948 to 1953 both Enis Akaygen and Dr. Mustafa Kentli were chosen as leaders. While the Nation Party was being successful in the opposition to both the Democratic Party and the Republican People's Party, suddenly closed down by the judgment at the beginning of 1954. The Nation Party was accused of its conservatism and closed for this reason. Then the old members of the Nation Party founded the Republican National Party on February 9, 1954. Because of the closure of the Nation Party for the reason given above the Republican National Party maintained its activities more carefully. The first founder of the Republican National Party, was Ahmet Tahtakıhç, After the congress of the Republican National Party in 1955, Osman Bölükbaşı continued his presidency by elections in every congress. Like the Nation Party, the Republican National Party maintained its political carrier as third party. Because its inhabitancy gave their vote to the Republican National Party, Kırşehir (province) was made as county, after the election of 1954. But it was designed as province again before the election of 1957. During the Assembly meeting for designing Kırşehir again as province the opposite speech of Osman Bölükbaşı against the Government, caused his arrest and he was sent to prison. This was the one of the interesting events in the history of the Republican National Party. After, 1954 the Republican National Party decided to make opposition to the Democratic Party together with the other parties, firstly, the Turkish Peasant's Party supported this decision in 1958. Both the Republican National Party and the Turkish Peasant's Party decided that the opposition should be triple alliance, without the Republican People's Party and the Democratic Party. Then both of them decided to unite on October 16, 1958. The united party was named as the Republican Peasant's National Party and maintained its opposition against the government. The Turkish Peasant's Party wanted the Republican National Party to change its party program. But the Republican National Party did notX want to accept this and it caused problem in the Republican National Party. On the other hand, the authority of Osman Bölükbaşı in the Republican National Party and the fact that it vtas known as“Osman Bölükbaşı's party.”disturbed the Republican National Party. The Republican Peasant's National Party tried to act as a mediator between the Democratic Party and the Republican People's Party in 1959. But, when the Republican Peasant's National Party saw that the Democratic Party wanted to break up the Republican Peasant's National Party, and it relinquished its decision about mediation. Consequently, the activities of the Republican Peasant's National Party did not solve the political discussions between the Republican People's Party and the Democratic Party, and this situation between the Republican People's Party and the Democratic Party brought the revolution on 27 May of 1960 and the Grand National Assembly was closed for a while.
