Özet
ÖZET Bu tez, sosyoekonomik dönüşüm sürecinde devletin önemini vurgulayan bir bakış açısıyla, Macar reform süreci üzerine yapılmış bir çalışmadır. Bu çalışmanın teorik temelini 1930 ve 1980'lerde piyasa sosyalizmi üzerine yapılan tartışmalar oluşturmaktadır. Tezde, bu tartışmalardan ortaya çıkan anlayışlar baz alınarak, Macar reform girişiminde karşılaşılan zorlukların genellikle devletin bir piyasa ekonomisinin uygun kurumlarının kurulmasında gerekli idareyi gösterememesinden kaynaklandığı fikri tartışılmaktadır.

ABSTRACT This thesis presents a study of the Hungarian reform process with a view to highlight the significance of the role of the state in the process of socioeconomic transformation. The debates on market-socialism of the 1930s and 1980s form the theoretical background of this study. On the basis of the insights derived from these debates, the thesis argues that the difficulties of the Hungarian reform experience largely stem from the failure of the state to successfully perform the necessary role of guidance in the establishment of the appropriate institutions of a market economy.
