Abstract Frenchay Aphasia Screening Test (Enderby, Wood & Wade, 1987) was standardi zed for use with Turkish population. The test was translated into Turkish and a pi lot study was done. 200 normal individuals, who were defined in terms of age, education level and sex, were administered the test. Analysis of normative data revealed that the comprehension-shape subtest did not discriminate between normal individuals and aphasic patients. Therefore, the subtest had to be exclu ded. Revised-abbreviated scores and revised-total scores were calculated. Analy sis of revised-scores revealed that age and education level were variables with significant influence on the scores (p <.05). Based on the revised-scores, cut-off scores were established for each age and education level group. 17 aphasic pati ents were used to validate the cut-off scores. There was no patient, who got hig her scores than the cut-off scores. Spearman's rank-order correlation coefficient (r =.001) for test-retest reliabity was.98 (n = 10), and for inter-scorer reliability, it was.97 (n = 20). The standardized-form of the test consists of five subtest. The comprehension-shape subtest will have to be restandardized, so that the final form of the test includes six subtests, not deviating from the original Frenchay Aphasia Screening Test.
