Özet
ÖZET Bu çalışma, Türkiyedeki Mimarlık okullarında, başlangıç öğrencilerine verilen Temel Eğitimin program ve uygulamaları ile ilgilidir. Temel Eğitim, öğrencinin görsel algılamasını artırıp, rasyonel düşünme ve kendini ifade etme yeteneği kazandırarak, yaratıcı potansiyellerini geliştirir. Bu düşünce ile, çalışmanın başlangıcında, yaratıcılık kavramının detaylı olarak incelenmesi uygun görülmüştür. Böylece, yaratıcılık ile mimarlık eğitimi arasında bir ilişki kurulmuştur. Mimarlık eğitiminin tarihsel gelişimi, dünyanın önde gelen mimarlık okullarının eğitim sistemlerine atıf yapılarak incelenmiştir. Bu incelemede, yurtdışındaki çoğu eğitim kurumunun, yaratıcılık ve görsel algılama yönünde bir hazırlık eğitimi verdiği gözlenmiştir. Yurt dışında eğitim görmüş mimarlar ile görüşme yapılarak, çeşitli ülkelerin eğitimleri hakkında bilgi toplanmıştır. Türk Mimarlık Okullarındaki Temel Eğitimin mevcut durumunu araştırmadan önce, Mimarlık Eğitimimizin tarihsel gelişimi gözden geçirilmiştir. Bu araştırma, Turkiyedeki önde gelen dört mimarlık okulunun Temel Eğitim dersi üzerinde odaklanmıştır. Bu okulların öğrencileri ve mezunları arasında, Temel Eğitimin uygulaması ile ilgili bir anket ve çeşitli görüşmelerin yapıldığı bir alan araştırması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu alan araştırmasının sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesi, Temel Eğitimin yarar ve etkileri hakkında görüş edinmemizi sağlamıştır.

ABSTRACT This study is concerned with the program and implementation of the Basic Education course which is taught to first year students in the Architectural Schools in Turkey. This course develops the creative potential of the students by increasing their visual perception, and enables them to gain the ability to think and express themselves rationally. With this idea in mind, it was thought proper to investigate the concept of creativity in detail, at the beginning of the study. A relationship between creativity and Architectural Education has therefore been established. The historical development of Architectural Education is examined with reference to the education systems of the leading schools in the world. In this examination it is observed that, most education institutes abroad, have been teaching a preparatory course, which is oriented towards creativity and visual perception. Interviews have been made with architects who were educated abroad, to acquire knowledge of the education systems in various countries. Before investigating the present state of the Basic Education Course in Turkish Architectural Schools, the Architectural Education in these is reviewed in a historical context. The investigation is focused on the Basic Education Course in four prominent Architectural Schools in Turkey. A detailed survey was made in which aquestionnaire and various interviews, concerning the implementation of the Basic Education, was carried out among present students and past graduates of these schools. The results of this survey have enabled conclusions on the effects and usefulness of the Basic Education to be reached.
