ABSTRACT“ EXAMINATION OF HIGHRISE BUILDINGS IN THE CITY ”AYKUT DAYI MASTER IN ARCHITECTURE SUPERVISOR : PROF. DR. DOGAN TUNA A study on skyscraper architecture in the city. The aim is to find correct answers for the questions“ where and how a skyscraper can be built in the city ”, and to integrate the skyscraper into the existing order of the city. The integration with the nature and the silhouette of the city is an important issue of the study. In the development of the cities skyscrapers have important roles with their economical, functional and symbolic values. In conclusion, the skyscrapers as an important symbolic element has to be accepted as a fact of today. It is not rational to give up the idea of the skyscraper, the important problem is the form and the relation of the skyscraper with its near environment and with the city.
