Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, denizyolu taşımacılığında muhtemel risklere karşı, etkin bir öngörü sistemi ışığında, gelecekte oluşması beklenen fiyat hareketlerinin bugünden saptanması ve türev ürünleri kullanımı ile finansal açıdan en uygun korunma stratejilerinin tespit edilmesiyle belirsizliğin elimine edilmesidir. Böylece denizyolu taşıma maliyetlerinde tasarruf yapılabilmesi ya da en azından gelecekteki nakit çıkışlarının bugünden belirlenen fiyatlarla sabitlenerek, şimdiden garanti altına alınması hedeflenmiştir.Anılan amaç ve hedefin ortaya konulabilmesi için öncelikle denizyolu taşıma maliyetlerinin en önemli maliyet bileşeni olan yakıt fiyatlarının gelecekteki trendi, yapay sinir ağları yöntemi (YSA) ile öngörülmeye çalışılmıştır. Elde edilen öngörüler ışığında türev ürünlere dayalı korunma stratejileri belirlenmiş, sonrasında ise belirlenen bu stratejiler sayesinde bir dökme yük gemisinin bir seferiyle ilgili toplam yakıt maliyetlerinde % 2'ye kadar tasarruf sağlanabilmiştir.

Aim of this thesis, the maritime transportation has been discussed within the frame of its types, financial hedging strategies and cost structures with financial risks. The main aim has been to detect the price movements that are expected to form in the future in the light of an effective prediction system against possible risks in maritime transportation and to eliminate the uncertainty by determining the most appropriate hedging strategy financially by using derivative products. In this way, it has been targeted to make savings on maritime transport costs, or at least to guarantee the future cash outflow along with stabilizing the prices in present-day conditions.In order to be able to prove the above-mentioned goals, a time-series analysis based on artificial neural networks (ANN) method has been carried out regarding the fuel costs that are considered to be the most important components of the total transportation costs. In the light of reliable forecasts obtained from the artificial neural networks method data, hedging strategies based on derivative products have been designated, and finally, owing to the adopted strategies, it has been possible to achieve savings in the total fuel costs of a dry bulk carrier up to 2% a voyage.
