Araştırma dört ana bölümde ele alınmıştır. 1- Açık ve yeşil alan kavramları. 2- Açık ve yeşil alan sistemini etkileyen doğal ve kültürel etmenlerin saptanması. 3- Mamak ilçesinde açık ve yeşil alanların bugünkü durumu, sorunlarının belirlenmesi ve çözüm önerileri. 4- Sonuçlar ve tartışma.

Prof.Dr. Yalçın ÖZGEN Open-green spaces have great significance for the existence of cities to posses good and hygienic conditions for city dwellers. Open-green areas are the Urban Settings to reconstruct man-nature relationships that have been recently destroyed as a result of urbanization movements. These spaces play a vital role to rehabilitate urban living conditions since they have a number of functions. On the other hand, efficiency of these functions require multi- purposed and a systematic way of planning approach. Green areas which are vital in matters of recreation, aesthetics and public health are made use of gradually by the urbanization movement. In recent years, disorder in urbanization occurs due to the pressure of uncontrolled migration towards cities, buildings become closely pressed together and increase in heights. As a result, the rate of green areas decrease and the available ones become destroyed. All of the above mentioned adverse effects prevail in Mamak district of Ankara. Mamak has many problems such as squatter houses, unsufficient child playlots and sport fields, non-equipped school gardens, plant units in winter seasons and drain contaminated streams. All of these problems affect the openIV and green areas negatively. This investigation concentrates on four parts: 1- Open and green space concepts. 2- Determination of natural and cultural elements that affect open and green space system. 3- Current situation of the open-green space system in Mamak and problems experienced. 4- Conclusions and Discussion.
