Özet
İlk kez Roma İmparatorluk döneminde sikke darp etmeye başlayan Iuliopolis darphanesinin faaliyetini konu alan bu tez çalışması, bugüne dek hakkında az şey bilinen kentin, sikkeler sayesinde daha yakından tanınmasını amaçlayarak hazırlanmıştır. Gerek antik, gerekse modern kaynaklar kent hakkında detaylı bilgi vermemektedir. Antik Bithynia bölgesinde bulunan kent günümüzde Ankara İli, Nallıhan İlçesi, Çayırhan Beldesinde bulunan ve 1950 li yıllarda yapılan Sarıyar Baraj Gölü suları altında kalmış ve dolayısı ile kente ait herhangi bir mimari kalıntıya ulaşılamamıştır. Anadolu Medeniyetleri Müzesi Müdürü Melih ARSLAN başkanlığında Çayırhan Beldesi, Gülşehri Mevkiinde bulunan kalker kayalık üzerinde yapılan Nekropol Kazılarında bulunan kentin sikkeleri sayesinde nekropolün kente ait olduğu anlaşılabilmiş ve kente ait bir bölüm ilk kez bilimsel kazılarla ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Kentin darphanesi İmparator Vespasianus zamanında başladığı faaliyetini İmparator Gallienus zamanına kadar sürdürmüştür. Başlangıçta daha merkezi bir anlayışla basılan kent sikkeleri İmparator Commodus zamanına kadar sadece Vespasianus ve Traianus döneminde basılmış olup ilk kez düzenli sikke basımına Commodus?tan itibaren başlanmıştır. Kentin sikkeleri üzerinde en çok dini tasvirler yer bulmuştur. Septimius Severus zamanından sonra askeri içerikli sikkelerde basılmaya başlanmıştır. Kentin sikkeleri üzerinde gördüğümüz tanrı ve tanrıça tasvirleri resmedilmiş ve hem sayı hem de çeşitlilik açısından bu çalışma ile birlikte kentin bilmediğimiz farklı tipte sikkeleri tanıtılmıştır. For the first time in the Roman Empire began to assault Iuliopolis mint coins subject to the activity of this thesis work, so far, little is known about the city, thanks to the coins has been prepared aiming at the recognition of a closer. Both the ancient and the modern sources do not provide detailed information about the city. Located in the ancient city of Bithynia in Ankara today, Nallıhan District, located in the borough of Çayırhan Sarıyar Dam in 1950 submerged under the waters could not be reached and therefore no architectural remains of the city.
