Özet
Bu araştırma; matematik dersinde, limit konusunun probleme dayalı öğrenme yöntemi ile öğrenilmesinin öğrencilerin derse ilişkin akademik başarılarına etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma, İzmir ilinde 2012-2013 öğretim yılında bir ortaöğretim kurumunun 12. sınıflarında okuyan 44 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Kontrol grubuna geleneksel öğrenme, deney grubuna ise probleme dayalı öğrenme yöntemi uygulanmıştır. Uygulama öncesinde öğrencilere ön-test olarak başarı testi ve uygulama sonrasında son-test olarak başarı testi uygulamıştır. Son test puanları incelendiğinde; akademik başarı testinin anlamlılık düzeyi 0,017 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan tüm çalışmalar neticesinde matematik eğitiminde probleme dayalı öğrenme yönteminin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına geleneksel yönteme göre anlamlı derecede olumlu etkilediği görülmüştür.

This research has been done in order to determine the effect of learning the subject of limit through the method of problem based learning on the students? academic achievement in a mathematics course. The research has been conducted in the city of İzmir, in the 2012-2013 Academic Year, with 44 students studying in the 12th grade of a secondary school. The control group have been applied the traditional learning method whereas the experimental group have been applied the problem based learning method. The students have been given an achievement test as a pre-test before the application and as a post-test after the application. When the post-test grades have been analysed; the level of significance of the academic achievement test has been determined as 0,017. As a result of all the studies that have been done, it has been found that problem based learning method affects the academic achievement of students positively at a significant level compared to the traditional method in mathematics education.
