Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı modern felsefenin kurucusu ve rasyonalizmin öncüsü olarak görülen Descartesın felsefesini metafiziğinin temel problemleri çerçevesinde incelemektir. Descartesın modern felsefenin kurucusu olarak görülmesinin nedeni, özneden hareketle yeni bir doğa ve bilim anlayışı temeli üzerinden felsefeye yeni bir başlangıç yapma çabasıdır. Bu çabanın ilk adımı olan metafizik ile ilgili temel problemler tezde incelenmektedir. Tezin Birinci Bölümünde, Descartesı yaşadığı yüzyıl şartları içerisinde değerlendirme fırsatı veren on yedinci yüzyıl ve bu dönemin hazırlayıcısı olan Rönesans felsefesinin genel özellikleri verilmiştir. Tezin İkinci Bölümünde, Descartesın hayatı ve eserleri kısaca ele alınmıştır. Tezin Üçüncü Bölümünde, genel olarak Descartes felsefesi irdelenmiş ve Descartes Metafiziğinin temel problemleri çok kısa olarak incelenmiştir. Descartesın belirlediği çerçevede Metafiziğin temel problemleri; Tanrı, Dış Dünya ve İnsan olmak üzere üç başlık altında incelenmiştir. Sonuç Bölümünde ise Descartes metafiziğinin temel problemlerinden hareketle Descartes felsefesi ile ilgili genel bir değerlendirme yapılmaya çalışılmıştır.

The aim of this study is to investigate the philosophy of Descartes within the framework of the main problems of his metaphysic, who is regarded as the founder of modern philosophy and the pioneer of rationalism. The reason why he is regarded as the founder of modern philosophy is his effort to make a new start for philosophy, based on a new perspective of nature and science starting from the subject. The main problems regarding the metaphysic which is the first step to this effort is examined in the thesis. The first part of the thesis reveals the conditions of 17th century when Descartes lived and the general characteristics of Renaissance philosophy, which are the preparative for the period. The second part briefly discusses the life and works of Descartes. The third part deals with the philosophy of Descartes in general and briefly examines the main problems of the philosophy of Descartes. The main problems of metaphysic are examined under three titles: God, External World and Human, within the framework established by Descartes. The conclusion part makes a general evaluation of the philosophy of Descartes, based on the main problems of the metaphysic of Descartes.
