Özet
Bu çalışma, ortaokul kademesinde görev yapan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin hizmetiçi eğitim ihtiyaçlarını ve hizmetiçi eğitim etkinlikleri ile ilgili beklentilerini belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Betimsel tarama modeli ve karma araştırma yöntemlerinin kullanıldığı çalışmanın evrenini, Türkiye?de ortaokullarda görev yapan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Ancak bütün öğretmenlere ulaşmanın zorluğu nedeniyle nicel boyutta 81, nitel boyutta 9 öğretmen ile çalışılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlere nicel boyutta ?Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenlerinin Hizmetiçi Eğitim İhtiyaçları Anketi? uygulanmıştır. Ulaşılan veriler, betimsel olarak ifade edilip yorumlandığı gibi çeşitli demografik değişkenlere göre ilişkisel analizler de yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel boyutunda, ?Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenlerinin Hizmetiçi Eğitim İhtiyaçlarının Belirlenmesi? başlıklı mülakat protokolü kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonunda ortaokul sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin en çok ?bilimsel araştırma yöntemleri?, ?sosyal psikoloji?, ?tarih?, ?rehberlik?, ?proje hazırlama?, ?eğitim psikolojisi?, ?çocuk psikolojisi? ve ?teknolojiyi etkin kullanma? alanlarında hizmetiçi eğitime ihtiyaçları olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, düzenlenecek olan hizmetiçi eğitim faaliyetlerinin planlı ve ihtiyaçlara uygun olmasını bekledikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

This study aims to assess social studies teachers? inservice training needs and their expectations in relation with inservice training. Employing a mixed method research approach, this research was designed as a descriptive study. The research population comprises of those teachers teaching social studies in the middle schools all around Turkey, while the sample of the quantitative part of the study is formed from 81 social studies teacher working in the middle schools of Uşak province. On the other hand, nine voluntary teachers, who were participated in the quantitative study formed the participants of the qualitative study. Firstly, a questionnaire, aiming to reveal social studies teachers? inservice training needs, designed by the researcher used as a data collection tool in the quantitative study. Secondly, a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher was used to collect the qualitative data. The collected quantitative data was analysed descriptively and displayed in tables. Additionaly, some correlational analyses were carried out find out whether there is any correlation between the descriptive findings and the demographic characteristics of the participants. The qualitative data was also thematically coded and categorised in relation with some pre and post determined criteria. The study findings indicate that social studies teachers need inservice training mostly on `research methods?, `social psychology?, `history?, `counselling and guidance?, `project work?, `educational psychology?, `child psychology? and `using ICT effectively in the classroom?. Besides, the findings disclose the study participants? expectations and suggestions in relation with the planning and organisation of the inservice training activities.
