Özet
Stres, kişinin maruz kaldığı olumsuz duruma karşı verdiği tepki olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Günümüzde bireyler hangi meslekte olurlarsa olsunlar, fark etmeseler bile stresle karşılaşmaktadırlar. Çalışanlar açısından stresin neden olduğu olumsuz sonuçlar ise verimsizlik ve iş gücü performansında yaşanan düşüştür. İş yaşamındaki değişim ve artan rekabet, örgütleri daha fazla verimli olmaya zorlamakta, bununla beraber örgütlerin çalışanlarından beklentileri artmaktadır. Örgütlerin başarısı ve verimi ancak çalışanlarının performanslarının artmasıyla mümkün olmaktadır. Bunun için ise çalışanlarda strese yol açan faktörleri önlemek ve stresi en aza indirmek için işletmelere bir takım görevler düşmektedir.Bu çalışma ile amaçlanan, öğretim elemanlarının karşılaştıkları örgütsel stres faktörleri ve bu stresin iş gücü performanslarına nasıl etki ettiğinin tespit edilmesidir. Çalışmada öncelikle stres kavramı, örgütsel stresin tanımı, stresin belirtileri ve aşamaları, stres kaynakları ve stresin neden olduğu sonuçlar, performans kavramı, performans yönetimi, stres ile performans arasındaki ilişki, düşük performansı arttırmaya yönelik bireysel ve örgütsel stres yönetimi teknikleri incelenmiştir. Ardından öğretim elemanlarında stresin performanslarına olan etkisini incelemeye yönelik Trakya bölgesi sınırlarında bulunan Trakya Üniversitesi ve Kırklareli Üniversitesi'nde görev yapmakta olan 340 öğretim elemanı ile yapılan anket çalışması sonrası elde edilen bulgulara yer verilmiştir.

Stress is defined as the response that given against any negative events. Nowadays, people are facing stress without even realizing it, regardless of their profession. Negative consequences of stress concerning employees are inefficiency and decreased level of performance. The changes in business life and increasing competitiveness forcing the organizations to improve their efficiency, raises their expectancies from the employees, since the success of organizations depends on the success of their employees. To ensure this, they have some responsibilities to minimize the stress and prevent factors causing it.The purpose of this study is to identify the organizational stress factors that the teaching staffs faced and the effects of the stress on their performances. Firstly, the concept of stress, the definition of organizational stress, the symptoms and the stages of stress, the sources of stress and the results that stress induced, the concept of performance, performance management, the relationship between stress and performance, individual and organizational stress management techniques to improve poor performance were investigated in this study. Then, to examine the effects of stress on the teaching staffs? performance, the findings of the survey that was done with 340 teaching staffs who are working in Trakya University and Kırklareli University in Thrace region were included.
