ABSTRACT There are many factors that influence the capacity of an airport, and some are more significant than others. In general, the capacity depends on the configuration of the airport the environment in which aircraft operate, the availability of aids to navigation and traffic control facilities. In this study the evolution of aircraft and passenger traffic in Adnan Menderes Airport in Izmir since 1987, has been investigated and future traffic is compared with the existing capacity of the airport. Suggestions are made as to the extension of the existing facilities.
