Özet

Bu tez çalışmasında, Sakarya Üniversitesi, Geyve Meslek Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin umut düzeyleri ve başarı yönelimlerinin bazı değişkenler açısından incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır.. Araştırmanın amacı, Ön lisans öğrencilerinin umut düzeyi ve başarı yönelimlerini bireysel, sosyal ve ekonomik farklılıkların etkileyip etkilemediğini ortaya koymaya çalışmaktır.Araştırmanın evrenini, Sakarya Üniversitesi Geyve Meslek Yüksekokulunda 2011- 2012 öğretim yılında farklı bölümlerde, sınıflarda ve öğrenim türünde öğrenim gören öğrenciler kapsamaktadır. Araştırma kapsamına giren 5 bölümden 284 öğrenci araştırma grubunu oluşturmuştur. İçeriksel tarama modelinin kullanıldığı araştırmada veri toplamak için Midgley ve diğerleri (1998) tarafından Goal Orientations Scale adıyla geliştirilmiş ve Akın ve Çetin tarafından Türkçe?ye uyarlanan Başarı Yönelimleri Ölçeği ve Beck ve ark. tarafından geliştirilmiş ülkemizde geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik çalışması Seber ve ark. tarafından yapılmış Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler, SPSS programı kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir.Araştırma sonucunda ön lisans öğrencilerinin umut düzeyinin düşük olduğu, aile gelir düzeyinin öğrencilerin umut düzeyin de etkili olduğu, düşük aile gelirine sahip öğrencilerde umut düzeyinin yüksek, orta ve yüksek aile gelirine sahip öğrencilerde ise umut düzeyinin düşük olduğu bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin başarı yönelimlerine göre umut düzeyinin öğrenme-kaçınma başarı yönelimine sahip ön lisans öğrencilerinin öğrenme- yaklaşma, performans- yaklaşma ve performans- kaçınma başarı yönelimine sahip öğrencilerinden daha yüksek umut düzeyine sahip olduğu sonucu bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin umut düzeyinde cinsiyet, öğrenim gördüğü bölüm, öğrenim türü ve anne öğrenim düzeyi farklılıklarının bir etki oluşturmadığı fakat meslek lisesi ve düz lise çıkışlı öğrenciler arasında bir farklılık oluşturduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca baba öğrenim düzeyi ilkokul olan ön lisans öğrencilerinin umut düzeyinin yüksek, baba öğrenim düzeyinin ortaokul ve lise olan ön lisans öğrencilerinin ise düşük umut düzeyine sahip olduğu sonucu bulunmuştur.

This thesis was carried out to examine the levels of hope and achievement orientations of the students at the Vocational School of Geyve at Sakarya University in terms of some variables. The aim of the research is to try to reveal whether individual, social and economic differences affected the levels of hope and achievement orientations of the associate students.The universe of research encompasses the students who were educated at different departments and in different classrooms and types of education at the Vocational School of Geyve at Sakarya University in the 2011- 2012 academic year. Some 284 students from the 5 departments within the scope of the research constituted the study group. The scale developed with the name `the Goal Orientations Scale? by Midgley et al. (1998) and adapted to Turkish as `Başarı Yönelimleri Ölçeği? by Akın and Çetin and the Beck Hopelessness Scale, which had been developed by Beck et al. and the validity and reliability studies of which were carried out in our country by Seber et al., were used to collect data in the research, where the content survey model was used. The data obtained in the research were analyzed using the SPSS program.As a result of the research, it was found that the levels of hope of the associate students were low, that the family income level had an effect on students? levels of hope and that the level of hope was high among the students with a low family income, whereas the level of hope was low among the students with moderate and high family incomes. According to the achievement orientations of the students, it was concluded that the associate students with learning-avoidance achievement orientation had higher levels of hope than the students with learning-approach, performance-approach, and performance-avoidance achievement orientations. It was established that the differences in gender, department at which they were educated, type of education and mother?s education level had no effect on students? levels of hope, but they led to a difference between the students who graduated from vocational high schools and from general high schools. Furthermore, it was concluded that the associate students whose fathers? education levels were elementary school had high levels of hope, while the associate students whose fathers? education levels were secondary school and high school had low levels of hope.
